IMG_5062I’m staying in my aunt and uncle’s holiday chalet in Cartmel. Both in their 80s and sadly my aunt has dementia. She was a rock climber in the 50s and 60s and a decent painter as well.
This painting was done by her but my uncle doesn’t know where it is.
It’s been a few years since I really spent lots of time in the high fells but I’ve got the feeling this is in the Broad Stand / Lord’s Rake area of Scafell but can’t quite place it using google images of that area.
Any ideas?

A romantic version of the Troutdale Pinnacle?

I'd say it's Scafell crag from Hollow Stones with a bit of artistic license. The way the crag seems to lean over you is the classic view.

I think it may well be Broad Stand/Scafell East though with some artistic licence.

Broad Stand

I like it though.

EDIT, I've changed my mind, I think lowey is right. Is that the Shamrock in the foreground?

Another +1 for Scafell crag, definitely.

Weirdly its got the great flake in the right place on central buttress but facing the wrong way.

What a lovely painting. Well done singletrack for being so knowledgeable.

I remember there being few similar threads with obscure photos of places that folk on here identified with aplomb.

What an absolutely amazing painting. I love the light she’s captured. It’s beautiful.

Just by chance, I’ve been working on an illustration of the Lakes today. I’m nowhere near that league though. Have you got any other paintings of hers you could show us @lister? That’s stunning!
