Put my memory card in the PC after coming back off holiday, and windows 10 popped up asking what did I want to do with the images, clicked import without deleting originals (or words to that effect). But it's only imported the .jpg files into c:/..../my documents/pictures.
When I put the card back into the PC it appears as empty and unavailable.
When I put it in the camera everything seems fine?
Some programs will import and then ignore as it thinks it's already imported them - whats doing the import?
Try a different PC or connecting camera via USB?
That seems to have worked, although the camera now appears as 2 devices, 'd:\' and 'f:\', d:\ is automatically recognised and asks if I want to import the images but only finds the .jpg files. f:\ works fine and has everything in it.
First time I've actually used the camera directly with windows 10 rather than , not impressed so far! I'll have to figure out how to stop it automatically trying to import whenever the card is inserted.
When you plug it in there will (should) be a pop up saying what do you want to do.... I've found it asks a lot at first.
If you search settings for USB you can change the stored settings and add settings for devices - might do cards.
...until they return to defaults 🙁
If I were you I'd reformat the card in the windows machine, then take it out and put it back in again. If it gives you the "wut do?" message, tell it to ignore the card. Try shooting a coupla pics and see if that's solved it, but if it's a setting in Windows changing it may be a waste of time [nonetheless, you can try]. Each time I set the default program for W10 it decides [possibly after an update] to reset back at some point.
Much as I like windows, and windows 10, the creeping number of things that default to a setting I don't want and more and more hidden settings it becoming a PITA!
Now the NAS is playing up, although I've just discovered that a 'long' press of the reset button removes the passwords and defaults all folders to public, what's the point of passwords then! Although I suppose it at least prevents remote attacks on it.
What happened to the days when you could just plug a drive in, and it'd just work! At this rate I'll be back next week to ask about linux.
