Looking at running some ethernet cables at home.
I need crimps, punch-down tool, tester and all the components.
Looking on the web the price spread is massive, everything from <£10 for a full tool kit to £300 for professional standard tools.
I am looking to spend between £20 and £50 for the tools, good quality to make life easy without spending a fortune on something that is going to get little use.
Also, which would be a good choice for cable? I needed something strong for pulling but want a fairly small diameter to help get through the spaces.
Any recommendations? Ideally a 1 stop website would be perfect.
For cables, any Cat5E will be fine. Just make sure it is copper, not Copper-clad aluminium (CCA). CCA is cheaper, but probably less reliable and can break if you bend it.
Don't know about tools. I think its easiest just to buy the ready made cables for whatever length you need.
