Trying to work out permutations for getting to work without a car, one idea is cycle then bus. The bus compan have no site, anywhereelse on the web to find bus fares?
The company set their own fares so I doubt there will be another site telling you them (unless there is a bus nerd in your town).
Ring them up and ask them to send you the offending timetables by post/email.
they will have an office you can call, which will be staffed by someone who can probably list all the fares and also tell you about special saver tickets.
a decent driver would do this too, but not all bus drivers are decent, some of em are complete tossers.
im a bus driver btw.
Where are you btw? There IS an iPhone app or two around so if you have a smart phone you may be able to download an app that has details for all buses in your area.
For Scotland I know the site

peak district
Look for a bloke with a 1950s haircut, short-sleeve shirt with a tie and ask him.
I always assumed you get on and the driver makes a wild guess, which seems to be the usual experience in Manchester.
Three - or four - competing bus companies; same routes, different times, different buses, different prices. I just hand over a fiver now and expect change.
I have no idea what the difference is, for example, between the 42 and the 142, other than the number.
From what I heard, most of the creative effort in Brighton University Graphic Art studios was scanning bus day tickets into photoshop and changing the date.
