Hi,

My cycle jersey is missing the square box on the bottom of the zip - can't find a supplier online.

Local repairs are telling me £25 to replace the whole zipper!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Maybe buy a new zip and cannibalise it? Reckon you're out of luck trying to buy individual zip components...

I've been quoted silly money like £25!

Replacing the whole zipper is not really viable as I have a brand new one under warranty - thanks LBS!

It's only a crimp-on tiny metal cube!

Might look on eBay as Amazon had zilch.

Just stitch around the zip where the metal was?

The crimp bit that goes into the box or garage as I believe its called broke off on my Gore Phantom last year. Couldn't find any replacement parts so had to have a whole new zip gotten.

Go to your local clothes repair/alteration place. I used to have one near me in a tiny shop run by a Polish bloke who was amazing, he could fix anything and was really cheap - tended to repair stuff rather than replace everything. Up north these places are everywhere and are really useful.

As above, go to a fabric shop, buy the shortest zip they have, take the little bit of metal off, and put it on your zip. Otherwise I've had success with just stitching round it. Or try some sugru?

Or try and get a nice blob of solder on there, and then file it down (its soft) so it fits properly.

Sugru is worth a go though as well. Or chewing gum, that sets rock solid 🙂
