Watched Bank of Dave on Saturday night. An enjoyable, no need to engage brain, film.
Then think afterwards 'Surely I'd have seen that in the news' and Google afterwards about Def Leppard bit and subsequently reading that all the major bits in the film are created for dramatic effect!
There's about 10% truth in it - felt slightly cheated! Wish I'd not Googled now! 🤣🤣
I remember watching the documentary about him years ago, probably more interesting than the film .
I quite liked the film , one of those feel good jobs
Based on true events.

Some are just lovely fun - Bank of Dave being a case in point.
Some are just hollywood-fied. We watched True Spirit the other day - the real story and images are great, the Hollywood version is just a cavalcade of crap special effects, rubbish reality and overly stylised characters and scenes. To have interspersed real images or shots would have been much better. 🙁
Like Perfect Storm, where everyone dies at the end.
I enjoyed bank of Dave, but confess when I saw bit where def leppard sell out a football stadium, I thought, that’s unlikely!!
I assumed that this was going to be a "Cocaine Bear" thread...

Slightly different, but I work on quite a few shows on the borderline between documentary and reality, they're not misleading, but you do have to pay attention at the beginning to catch the smallprint where it's revealed that the office, restaurant or school isn't actually a real place, and half the staff are actors with earpieces being fed lines from the gallery.
What's even more surprising is when the contributors (public) say things like "ohh I'll come back next week now that I know you're here", good luck with that, it's someone's house with a plywood sign over the door 🤣 We try to do a convincing job of building the set, but we're not THAT good!
See: Fargo, the tv series.
Saw the title, came here for The Bank Of Dave. It does say a TRUE(ish) story in the opening credits, and that (ish) is doing some HEAVY LIFTING!
Watching Cocaine Bear right now. It's probably not for you.
