It’s the reason I love 6 Music, often something will spike my interest. None more so than Guy Garvey’s Finest hour. Oh, I love that show.

He played Mara Carlyle – Pianni.

Ooo that was nice, off I trot to Google to seek out her albums (I'd never heard of her, hence the title). Boom! Wow! Floreat is just beautiful.

Anyway, isn't it great when this happens.

Sort of. Today my nephews (aged 2 and 5) introduced me to Johnny Orlando.

Sonos radio gave me "I'm with her" the other day, which was nice!

A weekend early morning (5.45am?) profile on Hania Rani gave me Home (and my album of the year).

Googling/youtubing melancholy tunes for here delivered me Waitin Around to die by the Be Good Tanyas...

Been a while since I really hit on something like that but yeah, it is awesome. I think best of all when it's live- a support or a festival slot where something just gets you out of nowhere.

In the garage, I listen to Capital. Not because it's good, I hate practically everything, but because every once in a blue moon they play something I love, which I'd have just never heard any other way.

Great band, saw them a couple of times, but no longer together.
I discover most of my new music through 6Music or Uncut Magazine and their free CD, Shazam is possibly one of my most used apps, I was using it on a Nokia when it used texting!
I never get chance to listen to Guy’s Sunday show, ‘cos I’m usually out doing something, and the most I get to listen is usually the 30 minute commute to and from work.
Support spots at gigs is another, as well.

Recent discovery is Mattiel. After hearing her on 6 Music, straight away binged on Spotify. Love her she's fantastic. Then Big Thief came up on Spotify when Mattiel finished. Another great find. I love music.

And Be Good Tanyas, somewhat unsurprisingly really, lead me to Indian Ocean by Frazey Ford. I’m a big Al Green fan, so to hear Willie Mitchell’s house band again is a treat.

A_A the title is about previously unknown artists... I remember in the early 90’s TVZ was scheduled to play Aberdeen so I bought the live double (at the Quarter?)... I cant honestly recall but I think I passed on the gig (and sold on the album not much later...)...

Anyways, Hania Rani:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion (even when they’re wrong). I wanted to like TVZ, I just don’t is all...
