The only way we'll leave Europe is if the yanks tow us out to the Caribbean

My wife got ours from Cardiff last year in the sale after Christmas. I think youd have to be a bit thick to go all the way to one of those nice Scandinavian countries to get a Christmas tree ... a nice 6ft Christmas tree would be a nightmare to bring back on the plane.

We are not planning to leave Europe.

If you mean once we leave the EU then it will be a gift from one non EU country to another. I think it will still happen

The current tree comes from non EU member Norway, doesn't it?

Anyway, the question should be "If we leave,..". Keeping my fingers crossed that the next couple of months are going to be such a disorganised, unholy mess that stopping the whole stupid exercise emerges as the obvious best option.

Best option isn't enough to tip it that way. We need to hope they see it as the only achievable option.

IIRC Durham City got one from Norway well before the UK even joined the common market (remember that anyone?)
So yes, we'll probably still get a Xmas tree from those nice Scandinavian countries.

We'll be too busy fighting over the last tin of beans in Asda to worry about 🌲
Unless you are Jacob Rees Mogg- he'll get his imported by the help.

Reckon it'd be a bit hard to leave Europe unless the British Isles start floating.

If, as a country, we eat enough beans, that might be possible...

I'd much rather remain though.

Agreed.

There was a time when you had to get to know someone really well to know of their unreasonable and often weird/strange/odd anxieties and views ... now they openly share them on EU referendum topics!

Agreed, mooman, but you have to admit that the first 20 pages of the main EU thread are especially useful; all those people with "weird/strange/odd anxieties" told us who they are:

Wow ... you went through 20 pages of that nonsense just to satisfy your compulsion to get a quote from me?

In which case I agree with you too; that thread is proving useful for clarifying the weird/strange/odd people on here ... I rest my case!!

Nah, your "out" is on page two. Your insulting of remainers continues for the next 1300 pages or so. This is gratuitous insult:

There was a time when you had to get to know someone really well to know of their unreasonable and often weird/strange/odd anxieties and views … now they openly share them on EU referendum topics!

You are the stereotypical leaver, Mooman.

Did you read all 1300 pages to find out what I wrote?

Obviously, Mooman.

Obviously, Mooman, but no more than you.

Rather than asking questions you think you already know the answer to, and randomly insulting reaminers here how about reseaching how Brixit will directly impact yourself, and your nearest and dearest. You aren't rich enough to be imune and don't have a second passport.

Still, it is hasn't happened yet so the "when" in the title is still "if".

The Christmas tree gifted by a non-EU country that arrives each year as a thank you for past solidarity will continue to be delivered. Think hard and you'll realise that other things won't get delivered or cost significantly more.

Edit: it's a thinly veiled Brexit thread, Kerley. Even for UK citizens who aren't aware of the history behind the Trafalga Square Christmas tree it takes seconds to Google it. Starting a thread about it without doing a bit of research is either the perfect way to demonstrate ignorance of a delightful gesture that has become a tradition or trolling. I fed the trolls in the hope they'd choke when they realised they've chosen the wrong institution to troll about. Not so apparently.

Clearly, Mooman, clearly.

No thank you.

Not just the wrong institution to troll about, the wrong victim too.

I agree mate.

I also get the frustration. People wondering around thinking the ref of 2016 won't affect them or the country.

News flash. It already has.

This country is treating itself apart. Needlessly.
