You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
will we just adapt our transport infrastructure to something more like Venice?
Or will we abandon the wet places to move farther inland?
It's not happening - Don't you listen to Trump?
We'll adapt and get by

Most of the Netherlands, East Anglia and some other parts of the world have done OK living below sea level for a couple of centuries so I doubt it will make much difference.
Be more worried about LACK of water; the taps are about to run dry in Cape Town, which is being cited as the first world city to run out of water. San Francisco, Los Angeles, London and a handful of other cities are also running dangerously close as more people want more showers and washing machines and populations grow.
The MInister of Agriculture in South Africa, whan asked how this situation could have arisen, replied: "It's the fault of the whites; they made the reservoirs too big."
This was talked about when I was at school in the late 80's/early 90's.
We had a song.
"I saw a donkey on Doncaster beach."
I forget how the rest went though...
The latter I imagine. Or do what the Dutch have done.
Look on the bright side, there'll be no accusations.
Just friendly crustaceans.

Judging by recent history (Asbestos, Smoking, Flooding, energy, pollution etc.) we will spend billions after it's all too late to try and carry on as normal, it will become the biggest spend going but any talk of doing something now will be ignored. I'd assume things like the jingoistic brexit feel of can't let london be under water being used to justify huge expenditure.

it will only effect left wing liberals, if you vote alt-right you'll be ok.
That looks like it could make Shapes of Water Dez .
I can't bring myself to watch it being used in real life though 😉
I surf, sod you lot.. 👍👊🙏
Mostly what mikewsmith said, it seems.
This is a (bit haphazard) talk from a sea level conference that discusses some of the things cities are already doing... mostly building defences and mostly costing an absolute fortune:
The reality for the UK is that we will notice more flooding during storm events, so we will see larger flood extents more often, but there will be time between events that mean people will try to repair and recover. So more like this: https://weather.com/storms/winter/video/waves-crash-into-scituate-ma-and-bring-widespread-flooding Whereas some parts of the world, like the tropical Pacific islands, Hawai'i, the US East Coast are getting what they call "nuisance flooding" where high tide causes shallow flooding for a few days or weeks at a time. How people, planners and Governments react to this depends a lot on the cultural, political and legal norms.
Individuals in the UK are very vulnerable to coastal erosion, because our laws say that when your house drops into the sea, you lose your land and there is no compensation due. For flooding, tax payers are effectively taking on the risk for home owners through the Flood Re scheme, where some houses would traditionally have become uninsurable so the Government is underwriting the risk to ensure people can still get insurance. So it looks like Government will keep using tax payers money to build bigger and bigger defences for populated areas. I can only hope that the last decade or so of Coastal Management Plans have seeded the idea that we may not be able to hold the line for much longer.
It's really interesting in parts of the USA, the local authorities have been trying to pay people to move away from the coast, to limit the local authorities' future liability. But people are tied to their homes, have a sense of belonging. So even though they are looking at financial ruin, they won't move. Yet.

Well, as most of my friends are ‘left-wing liberals’, and we all live roughly 150 - 200’ above sea-level, we’ll be just fine, thank you, and we won’t have so far to drive to the seaside, either.
#smugface 🤪
“Run out of Water” Ha Ha Ha, yeah because THAT will happen. #Wales.
We’ve got so much we export it.
Have you been to the year 3000?
Personally, I'm going to live in a pineapple.
Good to see Konagirl has got in here. Just happens that singletrack community includes two (female) sea level scientists!
