like cycling or F1 where, unlike pure team sports (like rugby or football or ice hockey), you might follow and/or support teams or individuals or both, what do you go with?

Do you tend to like individual riders above team? Or do you attach allegiance to a team because it represents a country or an idea or carries sponsorship or has livery you like? Or does it matter to you? Do you just like individual riders, but also like certain teams, and don't think much about it?

In the early 1980s, I was a fan of the 7-11 team for a number of reasons - not least of which was the fact that it featured in the film 'American Flyers'. On today's peleton, I have a thing for Quick Step. At the same time, I like certain riders that have nothing to do with Quick Step.

I don't follow F1, but I can imagine someone liking say, Ferrari, but being a fan of a driver that races for someone else.

So what and/or who are your favourites, and what is your general approach?

With cycling I just like watching the classic crazy fellas, you can Abernathy, trentin, etc, blokes who will bury themselves day in day out, mud, rain, cobbles, etc. Them boys for me I never tire of watching. Stannard was another for me, obviously cancellara. I don't care which one, I don't care which team etc.

In the GTs it's team sky as I'm British and that's their bread and butter.

I don't follow many other non team type sports, but in racing I have an affinity for Ducati and KTM.

Individuals for me. That's much more relevant. Picking a team just seems arbitrary and teams change over time. Even with team sports I feel the same. Seems a shame get stuck with a team even when every single player/rider/driver you once liked has left.

I've been a long-time fan of LeFevre and his classics riding teams, from Mapei, Domo and the various Quick Step versions - the way that they've dominated the classics over the years with riders like Museeuw, Bettini, Tafi, Boonen, Devolder and more recently Stybar, Gilbert and Terpstra who all ride with panache. With such a team we also get performances like today.

I've big a big fan of Wout van Aert since his first senior season at CX and indications are he's going to have a fantastic future - top 10 in his first RvV after a full CX season is awesome. Likewise, Van der Poel will hopefully have similar success in MTB and also expect him to transfer to the road - MTB is too small as sport for someone of his talents.
