Went through years of living my life to the words of a Happy Mondays song too. Things are gonna change big style 😀
That building in the background of that picture of that geek with the big glasses, that looks like Balfron Tower, what is just a few hundred yards from me.
Erno Goldfinger, innit?
Actually, it's not Balfron, but Trellick, in Ladbroke Grove.
Similar, but subtly different. Such gems will surely feature in a future edition of the New-type AA: Architectural Appreciation thread which is on Tuesdays on the Chat Forum.
Everyone on here dresses in supermarket denim
I don't.
I haven't had any denim since I was 18.
This is Glenkerry House, which is a baby version. Co-operatively owned, this building.
Carradale House sits in the shadow of Balfron (that's Balfron behind).
All these Goldfinger buildings sit bang next to motorways. Urban ugliness at it's very best.

...allegedly.
It's all weasel words until pics are provided.
If you've got it, flaunt it.
Just check with the STW girlies first. 😀
Pics will be provided.
The young ladies in the shop (and very lovely they were too) all seemed to think I looked really good in them. They said I had a nice ass (for my age 😡 ). I hope they're not on commission...
They were on commission.
And Crack.
I was too old on 13/8/2010,having bought a pair that morning, and worn them for the first time that evening. They just don't suit 55 year-old bifters ,do they?
Ian
And Crack.
Admittedly, they looked rather vacant - I thought it was just youthful lack of exuberance. Still, I did get offered a mobile number (that particular assistant was in her late twenties though) 😀
Hmmmmmmm I reckon this puppy of yours is leading you astray. Have you infiltrated the dog-walking circle? 😉
It was the number for a support helpline. 😐
Was it the number for the Samaritans or help the aged?
Still, I did get offered a mobile number
it was for her nan 😀

Some of these replies are really not that complimentary - they serve only to make me question my own treatment of others in recent weeks. I know Elfin was particularly hurt yesterday. I've obviously said things that make others want to hurt me 🙁
For that I apologise 😐

and did you honestly think you would get a sensible answer on here, and on a Friday as well? Check in the mirror underneath your fisher price hair to see if you have 'victim' scrawled across your forehead!!
oh and in answer to your original question, probably not, but i'm the last person i would ask for fashion advice
I know Elfin was particularly hurt yesterday. I've obviously said things that make others want to hurt me
Oh you!
with regards to tight jeans, just model yourself on Vince Noir and you'll be fine, but will need goth juice for the hair "it's the strongest hairspray on the planet, made from distilling Robert Smiths tears"
EDIT: the above will only make sense if you've watched the mighty boosh

Don't change. 😥
Ignore those guys up there^^. They're just bitching about your waist size. 🙄
Oh and that tosh about cyclists thighs! They just don't cut it. 😆
You need ridiculously skinny legs and no bum at all to make it work I think.
Pics needed.
if you're having to ask the question.. then you are not very likely to be cool enough to carry it off.. skinny legs and adolescent bum or not..
IDarcyLicker
I assume DD is getting pissed enough to work up the courage to post his mid to late thirties pins?
You need ridiculously skinny legs and no bum at all to make it work I think.
so...skinny jeans (boy cut), vest, check shirt, and a military beenie. but then I'm a bit younger than you Deadly.
If you feel Ok, then go for it.

TSY=groomer
Yeah cool, Yeti. Placement ATM, working for a living!!

Exhausting emsz, I'm busy at work so not really had time. Got a date lined up for Sunday evening though. Are you and Sara coming to the SwinleySexyParty then?

Only on no. 2 mate! I'm doing specials for philc. Would you like to subscribe to the list? 😀
Alas no Yeti, weekends are pretty precious at the minute, not to be funny, but a bunch of mountain bikers or my gf isn't too much of a hard choice.

Shouldn't be much longer then 8)

Oi! Stop using this thread as MSN. Talk about DD's midlife crisis jeans or GTFO 😀
Eh? What? [insert smiley] Dissapointed Face [/insert smiley]
'ere, elfin, which High Street Retailer did you get your selvedge denims from? Mine were £39.95 from Uniqlo, and they're excellent, but if there are cheaper around I'm interested. Bugger paying £180 for them, or the insane $280-380 they go for in the States.
I do wish there was Uniqlo around here! My son rates them very highly but he's in London.
C_G... there was one in Reading, wasn't there?
Reading? Don't go there! I thought my 'nearest' was Kingston. Will check now!
I iz well unfashionable but I know the answer to this
same as flares, you can only wear them one time around - strides/fashion is what defines the generation gap
scaredy - (not) wearing skinny jeans since about 1985
Ahh.. it closed after 18 moonths.
According to my skinny jeans wearing son, Uniqlo is good quality but he thought their products wouldn't fit me!
Not only did I used to wear skin tight jeans all the time I used to ride all over the Downs on my ten speed Coventry Eagle in the height of summer while wearing them and a shirt buttoned to the collar and suede Chelsea boots.
At 45 I could still get into them I reckon but fortunately for the rest of the off road community I have no intention of trying.

Uniqlo! 🙂
Was in their bit in Selfridges. Might've bin in a sale I'm not sure. I'd looked at countless jeans of all brands and prices, then found the Uniqlo ones which were every bit as good as anything else I'd seen, and better than quite a lot of much more spensive stuff.
I do wish there was Uniqlo around here! My son rates them very highly but he's in London.
Ha ha! Where you live is rubbish.
This is not a mid-life crisis. 🙂
why not buy uniqlo stuff on line?
darcy - there is nothing wrong with a mid-life crisis! I'm still having mine - it's fun. 8)
I'm just starting mine...
why not buy uniqlo stuff on line?
Only people with absolutely no sense of style buy before they try. Gotta make sure it fits propply before you part with the dosh, innit?
I try stuff on in bike shops then buy online though. 🙂
As long as it's tight Elfin, I know I'll look good 8)
God this Sylvester Stallone film is crap. Like, really really bad. 🙁
Only people with [s]absolutely no sense of style[/s] who are self-assured and confident buy before they try
HAHAhahahahaha, ain't anywhere near tight enough for my liking though!
dear lord that "lady region" is like a welders vice it could clamp 3/4" sheet steel 😯
Elf only got them cos I told him about them about 3 weeks ago. Although the windproof jeans do rock.
Is 43 to old for these skinny jeans? 🙁
Only people who are self-assured and confident buy before they try
Now you need to provide photographic proof of your self-assured confidence...
Oh no. That photo's coming out again isn't it?
Ps I like Erno. He had that Bond villain named after him. Innit?
I'm on pint no. 6!!
Definitely buying the skinny jeans tomorrow! 40th birthday in that London tomorrow. They'll get an outing.
😀
Woo hoo! Go for it! Tight t-shirt too, oh yes. Some cool Vans too.
Happy 40th and have a terrific weekend. 8)
Not my 40th!! 😯
dear lord that "lady region" is like a welders vice it could clamp 3/4" sheet steel
uhuh. She can clamp my steel any time she likes.

Damn right! I usually wear 32/34 jeans, and I tried a pair of 32/32 Japan denims on in Uniqlo when I was up in London Village a couple of weeks ago, just to be on the safe side, like. Could barely pull the things up, let alone do them up. Length was ok. A week later their special offer email had some sized 34/34, so I thought I'd give 'em a try. Perfect fit. If I'd bought my usual size I'd have had to phaff around sending them back, doing like elfin does means I know what size to go for next time they have an offer with that size available. Fantastic jeans, I can't believe how good they are for the money, and their flannel shirts are just wonderful, really soft and comfy to wear.
Gotta try stuff on, speshly trousers and shoes. Gotta get the fit right; sod messing about sending stuff back. S'ok if you know which size you need, but if not, not worth the hassle of getting it wrong.
aP din't tell me about those Uniqlo jeans; he's lying. I discovered them for myself.
I've seen some right fat biffers in skinny jeans walking round that Lundun. They don't understand they look like walking sacks of spuds, bless their little hearts.
Straight leg FTW. I remember when you bought your Joe Bloggs jeans according to the width of the leg. Yeah, lemme try on some 18" bottoms. Straightleg. Bootcut makes you look like Richard Hammond.
The span of my hand happily coincides with what will fit round my calves. It's the first thing I check.
Apologies darcy. 😳 You of course look far too young to be 40 anyway. 😉
Is DD under forty? 😯
Well I never would've guessed.
My doctor thinks I'm the 'perfect' weight. 8)
She is in fact correct. She's a clever woman.
