Defiantly.

I like to use 'prolly' as I was barracked once on here for using it.
I found it especially pleasing that the individual who moaned about poor spelling/grammer had managed a misspelling in the title of his previous post.
some people think they are American
It's never going to stop. Most people don't even know they're doing it. I'm learning to ignore it. Slowly.
"Heads up."? You cock.
Not shure when they forgort. but no need to loose temper over it.

Fo sho, blud.
"are" is not a suitable replacement for "our" either.
As a regular reader of the football section on the Manchester evening news site I am aware they have some shockers on a regular basis. A quick look at today’s posts revealed this:

Was it a bargin?
Similar cock-up is when folk claim to have been bought-up by their parents.
Always gives rise to a chuckle or two...
Nobody says "Assnal" (not since Eric Morecamber died 😥 )
Is "ass" not just swear filter avoidnace since you can't type arse?
Edit: Turns out, no. Whaddya know!
What would Julian Arsange make of all this, I wonder?

There's a thread on Facebook for my old school. Quite often when someone posts on there reminiscing I think "wow, when I was at school, I remember learning some words."
Would of, could of, should of. Cretins....

It always strikes me that it must actually be more effort to write like this than to use actual real words.
"are" is not a suitable replacement for "our" either.
C'mon you Oursenal
Works for me
The point of writing or speaking is to communicate. Most "errors" or faux pas dont actually mean you are confused about what they mean.
I am not sure why people get so precious about it tbh
It's technology isn't it? Forcing folk to write who normally wouldn't, don't or can't. Before the internet or texting, you didn't normally get to see how illiterate a lot of folk are. 😛
It's not technology, it's choice.
Personally, I choose not to converse with illiterate gibbons.

Personally (and I know I make my fair share of grammatical cock-ups) I find it alters context dramatically when reading various illiterate posts. It's not that I can't 'decipher' their ramblings, it simply breaks the flow of reading, for want of a better turn of phrase. In conversation it can be easily overlooked, but I find it amusing as opposed to annoying in that instance.
Edit - to correct a cock-up, of course...
illiterate gibbons.
Surely we need literate gibbons before we can have illiterate gibbons?
If I ever meet an illiterate gibbons I will spank the monkey
an illiterate gibbons
Start a-spankin
who would have thought I would do a typo on this thread
😀

When will people learn how to use ellipses?
never really got the spelling business right. 60 word spelling tests and a smack on the arse with a metal edged rule for everyone wrong sort of turned me of attending English lessons. It did not help with my other school work either. Still after all these years I'm getting lots of lessons on here. 🙂
Prollom I have is I axcess this sight a lot from my phone, when I reply to posts I use swype keyboard with prediktive text set to off..
itd noy speeling I jave a peobleb ivh its tipping
When did people forget how to spell....
Probably about the same time as punctuation went down the tubes, a question should be ended with a "?".
I don't think people have forgotten how to spell, most couldn't spell in the first place, and with the advent of social media they're trying to do something they'd never had to do before.
For a lot of people who left school and went into manual jobs the only thing they had to write was their name and address on forms, now they're on facebook and twitter and here....
2 personal favourites of mine.
Instead of chest of drawers, "Chester Draws" (This was a frequent occurence in a particular job I once had)
"Setting a new President" (A favourote with the R5 live oddly)
When will people learn how to use ellipses?
I missed the last one. 🙁
on a regular basis
Would that be regularly then?
Loose/lose always gets my goat. Why TF can't people get it right, 'careful you don't loose it', 'I think I'm loosing the will to live' etc.
I also frequent a sea angling forum & there's some real dumbness on there, illiteracy at it's best.
Gets on my wick & I'm not poifect!

what about graduates with poor spelling and grammar..?
I didn't go to uni, as I considered at the time that I was probably getting 'ideas above my station', so it riles me a little bit when I see poor literacy from people that are supposedly academically quite bright..
especially with the advent of computers and social media, when the machine does most of the spelling for you, and you can check a query with a couple of goggleclicks..
quid venit in mundum?
what about graduates with poor spelling and grammar..?
They should be shot for wasting taxpayers money.....bastards!!!.....

cranberry - if youre going to pull people up on there speeling and grammer atleast do it right?

I think it's because it's counterintuitive; the shorter word written is the longer word spoken, and vice versa.
