I know that in admitting to still be using a Meta product on STW I'm risking a virtual lynching but not sure where else might know the answer (my Google-fu certainly can't uncover anything)...
First world problem, but in our MTB group I see others post video of rides and they're good-quality, HD footage with no glitches, etc.
Whenever I try to post video, it plays back looking horribly compressed with blocky bits and glitches all over it.
I've tried different cameras, posting from different devices (phone, tablet and PC), different video editors, different resolutions, different frame rates, unedited video, everything I can think of but with results always the same.
I have the media upload setting at HD.
Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?
Attach it as a document instead of a video.
It will give you the option to browse your gallery, or choose the video file using your file manager. There is a 2GB limit to that, so if it's larger then you'll have the same issue.
Failing that, Google drive links work as well.
Yeah WhatsApp compresses / down scales on upload using the app.
It does the same to photos but not as much
Better to post the video or picture to some sort of media cloud hosting service then send a link
Yeah, I often resort to throwing them at YouTube and linking to that.
Just wonder why my videos compress horribly but my riding mates' don't.
Create a shared Google Images folder and invite folk to upload to there?
Also, specifically with WhatsApp,
Wait.
If you're uploading something, wait until it's actually uploaded completely before hitting Send.
Personally, if I were posting videos anywhere as more than a one-off, I would (and did) create a YouTube channel.
Yeah host it on youtube and link it... if you have an android phone, then you already have a google account, and therefore you also have a youtube account as Google owns youtube.

No it's allowed as long as it's just for groups and buying/selling some old shit.
