In my neck of the woods, Stroud Brewery make a fine selection of ales. What do you recommend from where you're from?
Milton brewery based on the brewer living next door? He does brew a fine pint though.
Palmers is the local brewery, I always liked their dark winter ale, Tally Ho!, but plenty of folk go for the IPA.
Golcar - not such a fan.
Empire - not bad.
Magic Rock - pretty good but i think £4 for a pint in the same building that its made is royally taking the piss.
Enville ale. The wonderful nectar that it is. 🙂
great question: I hail from Stoke (live here not from here) and we do have an excellent local brewery. Titanic. http://www.titanicbrewery.co.uk/c/our-beers/the-titanic-fleet/
There's a pub in stoke stoke that serves them all and it's good fun to try a half pint of each. I like the 'Iceberg'
Based in Walthamstow Wildcard brewery do some nice ales and have a tap room.
Even closer to home these people make cider from local apples. If you happen to have apple trees in your garden they will swap them for some cider!
You missed Mallinsons mos - some really nice hoppy beers
Magic Rock - pretty good but I think £4 for a pint in the same building that its made is royally taking the piss.
They do some cracking beers, yes the taphouse is expensive but you can get it for £3 a pint at the Grove if you're not that bothered
Northern Monk in Leeds. I may be a bit biased as my sister works there, but Brian who does the brewing comes up with some awesome and interesting beers.
Loweswater Gold
Jennings
and one of the local pubs does it for £2 a pint 4-7pm, think i'll have a couple this evening
Not the nearest, but local enough - FFF's Pressed Rat and Warthog, a dark mild.
The Hogs Back stuff is all pretty good too.
Nearest - Bridge of Allan brewery
Bestest - Harviestoun
Roosters
Daleside
Bad Brewing Company
Harrogate Brewing Company
Knaresborough Brewing Company
Outlaw
West would be it, and also the good old classic, that most of you'll turn your nose up at, Tennents!
Tennents Wellhead brewery is about 400 metres from my office.
Their beer is a crime against humanity.
Thankfully Drygate is next door and makes some nice beer.
Mt Brewing Company is my local, about 6 km away. Favourite beer is Mermaid's Mirth, an APA.
A smaller outfit, Rocky Knob, also contract brew at Mt Brewing, they do some nice stuff too.
Brewdog HQ, 4.5 miles away!

That didn't take long! 😆
The stuff I make in the kitchen. 🙂

I'm a craft beer snob
A pint of Tennents isn't that bad
Back home is more hop gardens than breweries, so I would have said Shepherd Neame. Spitfire - downed all over Kent, just like the Messerschmitts.
Kent CAMRA disagrees, and tells me that this place is closest, but I've never tried any of them...
http://www.nelsonbrewery.co.uk
Not back home is one of 3 German breweries. 2 are now co-owned, with 1 brewing the beer for the other. The third makes Hefeweizen that doesn't half make you bloated the next day.
Spey Valley Brewery
Owned by one of my best mates too 😀
Lervik Brewery in Stavanger
I'm in the luxurious position that within 3 miles of my house I have:
Craddocks - Good but not exceptional. Saxon Gold is a lovely session beer.
Sadlers - Some outstanding stuff here, Mud City Stout at 6.6% is stunning.
Green Duck - More good stuff, James Pond being my favourite.
Expand that to 6 miles and we bring in:
Bathams - Outstanding.
Enville - Also brilliant.
Fixed Wheel - Yeah, their beer is awesome too.
Angel - Not as good as the above three but very few are, still damn fine.
this lot
Sold out a few years ago; becoming a bit too commercial and less boutigue-y now. Even the Bell at Aldworth didn't have any last time I was there.
so also this - still made by one bloke (and five daughters). And delightful.
this lot is near to work. Very small, very friendly, and excellent beer. My go to brewery for the odd polypin
Tempest is about 1/2 mile from me and now doing very well for itself. Great to see a local company growing and expanding
Born in the Borders is bit further away but I prefer their beers.
Both companies are (I think) aiming at different markets and both doing great
Spoiled for choice in Edinburgh, but I think I'm contractually obliged to say Natural Selection, because it's a collaboration between Stewarts Brewery (run by one of our graduates) and 4 of our brewing students.
But instead I'll go with Bellfield, because they do some decent gluten frees and I can drink them without guilt and/or digestive system explosion.
Everything lunge said plus kinver brewery and a little bit further away ludlow gold is outstanding.
Fullers.
In Bristol we have lots of options. Which is great. I was going to list a few but may as well do this
http://www.camrabristol.org.uk/breweries.html
Yes, forgot Kinver, not bad that either. We do alright in Stourbridge for beer don't we?
I live in Blackpool, so Carling.
Loads of brewery's in the local area but my favourite is Acorn Brewery of Barnsley as it just happens to be owned by a mate, good range of beers and not bad mates rates either!!
digfield is one of our local brewers, quite partial to a pint of fools nook
Back home, Adnams. Down these parts, I guess Lord Conrad's Brewery is my closest. I've not had their beer yet, but it is on the way home, so I might have to pop in and find out this weekend.
On the Bucks Beds border so more than spoiled for choice. Marlowe, Tring, Leighton Buzzard Brewery, Concrete Cow, Brill, Chiltern - all good.
Well, you see, there's this bloke on STW who does some lovely brews I tell ya.
don't find it in the shops often enough, so this has prompted me to check out the stockists list on their web site
Weetwood for me, couple of nice IPA/hoppy/light/citrusy beers. Don't know how far its traveled though?
DezB - indeed, Upham beer is very good.
Cheers Spawn, will look our for Mallinsons.
Millstone is a small brewery near me in Mossley. They have a beer called Tiger Rut which is lovely if you ever see it locally
we're spoilt for choice between southampton and the downs.
Closest to home is cracklerock brewing but i've never been/ had their beers. perhaps a ride to the tap room is in order...
Localish is red cat brewery - which i'm a huge fan of - insisted on prowler and tom cat for our wedding last summer.
Brewdog is my local that I can drink regular.
Fierce brewing is closer...I like their eskimo Joe but it's a once in a while drink.
Chang, Leo, Cheers.ir Singha
There are.some decent Thai craft beers now, but they are brewed over the border to get around the tax laws.
For Newcastle I'm going to to plug my mates business
Newcastle Brewing Ltd. http://newcastlebrewingltd.co.uk
,
Oooooh! Not heard of that Quirrel.

50m from home. Mostly pale ale but special stout in winter.
doordonot, I moved into the area last year, and Stroud Brewery was a very pleasant surprise. Especially as I have budding on draught within 200m.
but there's a few in the area - Hogs Back, Tillingbourne, Surrey Hills to name some....
my local brewer is The Moor Beer Company in Bristol. but I am far more partial to a pint of Buddings from the OP's local brewery.
Another Stroudie here .
Of the regular beers OPA is my favourite .
Of the seasonal beers Teasel wins hands down for me . It's on draught in March so only a few days to wait .
I'll be there around 5pm on a green Escapade if any of the other locals want to reveal themselves .
thheotherjonv, and that's what I left, nestled halfway between Surrey Hills and Tillingbourne. I do miss Corbetts in Dorking.
My local farm shop started brewing beer to feed the rare breed cattle in a wagyu beef style, realised it tasted good and now bottle it.

BRAINS!
Anything by Allanwater Brewhouse:
(although Czech Pot is my fave).
http://bridgeofallan.co.uk/
I'm even in the promotional video:
Where else you going to finish your mid-week ride?
Pete, I may well see you there later, I'm just trying to see if they're still only open half a day today for collections. all this talk of beer has left me needing to come up and grab a case.
Good shout on Teasel too, another fine ale from SB
Oooooh! Not heard of that Quirrel.
An old school friend set it up. I have liked all the ones I tried. Based out of the Ouseburn building just opposite the Free Trade, but should have a cafe near the Ship Inn soon - Arch 2 I think it is called.
Cheers Quirrel I know exactly where you mean.

Twisted Barrel by far the best of those, particularly this:

I recently moved back to Kent from Yorkshire. Locally we have Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer. A Yorkshireman asked me why I was moving so I told him it was to get a decent pint...
Local (within 10 mile radius) to me are in no particular order -
Red Willow
Storm Brewery
Wincle Brewery
Happy Valley
Bollington Brewing Company
Mobberley Fine Ales
Tatton Brewery
Beartown Brewery
Buxton Brewery
Al good stuff and always something on from one or the other to enjoy after the Monday night ride
More local beers to try, thanks to Dez and thomthumb. 8) Recently bought some from Red Cat which wasn't bad, in the cupboard awaiting sampling is Bowman 'Swift One'.
Used to brew beer many years ago, bought proper hops etc.
The Wye Valley Brewery.
Spinning Dog Brewery.
Both within 15 minutes walk. 100m apart.
Over 40 breweries in Kent now, a lot have sprung up in the last few years! SN is reliably mediocre (I still drink it mind, can't really escape it when half the pubs in Kent sell it). Time & Tide in Deal is the best Kent brewery right now I'd say. The Foundry brewpub is decent (although not as good as the early days since their original head brewer left) and importantly within staggering distance of home from me!I recently moved back to Kent from Yorkshire. Locally we have Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer. A Yorkshireman asked me why I was moving so I told him it was to get a decent pint...
Brightside brewery is the closest and good beers also a couple in bury and one in Prestwich
Cheers Quirrel I know exactly where you mean.
I think Ouseburn is limited opening, give him a call or [url=
Funk him
Brewdog is a five minute walk from the house and I still haven't been on the tour :/
