To be honest we dont see that much round away but this morning out part of the derwent valley is a smidge wet. One of the busiest commuter sections where the A6 meets the A610 at the Hurt Arms is fully under water, some hero had a go at it at some point is going to be getting a costly hydrolocked bill for his transit.
Only ever seen the derwent up to the bridge in belper once before in 25 years of being around the town.
South Downs near me, courtesy if you believe the local news, of the EA cutting back and not dredging the river mouth.
Sheffield is slowly sinking. Rotherham and Doncaster have drowned
Soft, white and fluffy.
First day we've had snow down to street level this winter.
None existent here in Macclesfield.
Beautiful blue sky morning, hasn't rained for a few days here.
Not too bad really, Road between here and Tod was/is shut (haven't checked this morning), and Mythomroyd had extra flood defences erected, but the flood siren didn't go off at all. Stopped raining here in the afternoon though luckily. Out on the bike later to have a look at the damage.
Poor folk in Sheffield got walloped though
Feel sorry for Sheffield Rotherham etc, looks nasty. SE London.... My garden is a swamp but no flooding!
Randoms driving into flood water is not heroic
Birmingham here, no flooding at all. We often get a bit at the bottom of my road and even that was clear.
Not sure if we missed the rain or not but it was -3 and clear skies on our clubrun last night in Reading, was quite surprised to see flooding on the news!
Nothing here in Lancs

As far as I'm aware it's not cutbacks but a plan to stop the futile battle with the sea and to allow the area to return to a natural wetland. Sure the lovely meandering bends looked nice enough but it's a pretty sterile environment compared to what it might become now.

Beautiful blue sky morning, hasn’t rained for a few days here.
+1
I'm not sure the locals in Alfriston and Litlington see it that way.
Boats and stuff in the middle of Worksop.
A couple of the usual spots around High Peak area - little dips or poorly drained sections which always flood - but I'm the other side from Sheffield so we're alright really. It was miserably wet though all day.
Manchester was gridlocked last night. Combination of shit weather, a football match at Old Trafford and numerous small accidents. M60 was solid both ways as I crossed it on the train last night.
Loads here. There is usually a playing field the other side of this bridge

And here’s someone on a jet ski on the playing fields!

Took Abigale over four hours last night to get from Sheffield to home, 16 miles. The Parkway was stood with the volume of traffic trying to use alternative routes to the M1. When she got to the M1 they had closed it north bound due to surface water and were diverting into Rotherham which was flooded. She managed to keep to the high ground and get back to the MI at J35 and then off at J36 and onto the Dearne Valley Way which was also flooded.
She did have to add to the volume of water at at one point in the journey

Down here on the coast we've been told that the best option is to let the sea control itself. They're still dredging the main channels and chucking the silt/sand on the seafronts, but other than that initiatives like Medmerry will be the norm from now on.. Not too sure about the Swage from West Wittering to Itchenor, a few years ago they spent about £1m on building out the sand dunes but we've heard (my sailing club other side of the harbour) thats the last time they'll be doing it...
Chester Greenway flooded this morning, which was a surprise. Deep enough to cover the wheels on my bike, by the time I realised I was already in it. 😁
Severn was over last weekend and a few local roads were out of action but it's receding again now.
squealer that's not Hereford is it?
squealer that’s not Hereford is it?
Correct.
Crikey that is high. I've seen the fields flooded a few times but not right up to the footbridge level.
In laws are close to the Wye - fortunately about 15m above it, although local access has become limited. Didn't realise it had gone so high though.
Warnings are for the Derwent to peak around lunchtime, at levels close to the 1965 record. OP may have posted prematurely
The junction by the Hurt Arms at Ambergate you say?

We are going to walk down to the Hurt tonight for a drink - might pop my wetsuit on! 🙂
Currently watching the floodwater get closer to my office door in Matlock.
Drains unable to cope in Doncaster, half the street flooded, I'm landlord to two of these, it's been a long night and seems like a long day already. Waiting for loss adjuster now.
Edit: dunno why it's not showing for me, the img tags look normal and imgur is usually allowed
These two pictures are about 30 seconds from my house in Sheffield. Luckily we're perched on a hill.

Two of my mates are determined to drive from Sheffield to the Dirt Factory in Manchester after work tonight. Forecast looks dry but I hope we don't have to sleep on Snakes Pass.
Stanley Fearns in Matlock…
That's getting a bit close to your work place muffin-man!
There's no flooding up here at Kelstedge
...you wait till it snows ssboggy!!! Have fun on Slack Hill! 🙂

Might need to buy a fat bike 🙂

Well I wouldn't go that way if I were you
Guess our first visit to the Dirt Factory will have to wait! Thanks for that, they were just going by the weather forecast and google maps.
It was bad in Shropshire about a month back, fine today though

@sharkatack - I hope there's a cycle lane under all that water #cyclingonthepavement! 😉
Hope people aren't suffering too much, we've had about as much rain as the flats of Cambridge can take this week, much more and I'll need a bike/canoe hybrid for work!
No flooding here, quite impressive thunder and lightning and drizzle. It’s still 29C though at 22:38
... and it is raining again in Worksop.
Seen one idiot thinking his car is a submarine this morning and trying to go under Kilton Hill Bridge. Of course he get stuck...
Center of Rotherham, next to post office had about 80-100cm of water this morning, but apart of that more-less ok. Not sure how it is like further afield or closer to canal/Don.
Heard some people get stuck overnight in Medowhell...
Cheers!
I.
Another one from Worksop here. Really bad in the town centre.
(not me pictured I hasten to add!)

Raining at present here in Darley Dale, but the river Derwent isn't expected to peak till later. There has been some discussion of water being released from Ladybower and Derwent last night due to the pressure up there. Was sad to realise that the coastguard helicopter that was searching up the valley before lunch was looking to recover the glass that got swept away at Rowsley in the early hours.
pretty bad in lincs, plenty of roads closed and idiots still trying to get through and need rescuing....
out of interest, is there an up-to-date site for road closures anywhere? one of my lads and his mate and girlfriends are flying from birmingham airport in the morning, so A46/A453/A42/M42 to airport parking. any sites for them to look at for closures/re-routing etc?
cheers
@sharkatack – I hope there’s a cycle lane under all that water #cyclingonthepavement!
There is, and luckily it's about 18 inches higher than the road otherwise he'd be swimming.
It's weird in Sheffield tonight. I just got home from work in 9 minutes! Wish everyone would stay home more often.
Watch out cycling (and walking) through dirty water you can see the bottom through, because it's not unheard of for the rising waters to lift manholes covers.........

Yeah that happened on the a57 snake pass yesterday evening. Several cars got flats on raised drain covers
Sadexpunk - I've been using the county council website to check road closures here in Derbyshire.
AA/RAC may have a wider list.
No flooding here but rivers & brooks are high. The team has been very busy clearing trash screens, culverts and bridge holes to keep water flowing freely.
@Muffinman That's my firms JCB! Bloody hell!
Derwent has burst its banks in derby in the last couple of hours, managed to evac mrs ws just before 5 from the garden centre at little eaton.
Daughter however, you know the one, the one that passed her test a month or so ago reckoned shed be fine getting to the cinema. Left 90 mins ago, on her way home now 😂
Due to years of tory cuts we dont have any flooding up here on Merseyside, just a few damp patches, from mps going to loose their well paid so called jobs in Decemebr
South Downs near me, courtesy if you believe the local news, of the EA cutting back and not dredging the river mouth
The temerity of them. How dare they not spend public money on protecting an artificially created floodplain with no-one on it from flooding.
Sigh.
I will say, having just got back from the P&H in Litlington that the flooded roads seem to have pretty much halved their usual Friday evening business and Alfriston is pretty dead apart from lots of 4x4 response and EA vehicles so there is some indirect effect on people here. That and all the low lying homes in Alfriston.
Yeah that happened on the a57 snake pass yesterday evening. Several cars got flats on raised drain covers
I rode over Snake Pass earlier this evening. All passable with a bit of care - actually I reckon it was easier by bike than car.
Not been too bad in this corner of East Northants. Just a few small puddles on the trails in the local woods.
Off out to brave it this morning. Hopefully the roads around derby have improved....
It's not. And that there is is now solid frozen.
They are tough old beasts, might not be an ex-excavator with bit of careful lubrication! (oe-err missus)
Well I've spent the day removing flooring and skirtings, mopping out and getting the dehumidifiers going in one house. Same again tomorrow in the other, if it's moat has drained. We still don't have flowing drains and likely won't until the Don drops a few feet. We had a laugh when my tenant compared it to the Titanic on Look North last night though.
@h4muf bet Chris and Kev are extra chirpy on monday morning! Was that a duck I saw outside the hurt arms on the aerial photo? Was it helping out? Did the vintage event go ahead today?
@Wrightyson yes,it went ahead.
They'll both be in a bad mood in the morning!
Went off in my canoe this morning across the mighty river Leam, in Leamington spa where folks normally walk their dogs. Pretty rad.
