Anybody know what this is? It looks familiar but I can't quite think what it is. Trying to identify it for a friend. It's not my pic and I haven't actually seen the thing myself.

That's bizarre. The words 'cheese press' went through my mind, but I have honestly never seen one before.

Perhaps I fell asleep during an episode of Countryfile and some of it seeped in.

Never seen a cheese press like that before. Cheese needs to have pressure steadily applied, that doesn’t look like it could apply it steadily, more of a spring loaded ratchet mechanism.
