It all seemed pretty inoffensive to me.
There are some tender people and mods here...
Usually based on the intelligence of the poster... Satire requiring some 😉
Trolling will get you a ban.
Satire is harder to understand.
satire = funny witty intelligent

Is trolling. Neither are capable of anything else.
I don't know why anyone reacts to their posts, I just ignore them now.
Satire is a place in Yorkshire.
Trolls live under bridges eat goats.

# Report-Post for trolling.
Oh, OK, locking a thread because it's not particularly funny seemed a bit harsh to me. Half the time I just read the message without looking to see who posted it, I didn't realise GW had previous.
It's just that after the Slam 69 thread got deleted and this one got locked, I find it hard to understand what the rules are, although I realise I am probably breaking them myself just by asking questions.

davidtaylforth is one of the funniest posters on STW!!
I think it only failed as not enough folk had read the original "mobile phone to school" thread.MidlandTrailquestsGraham - Member

If we start banning failed humour the site will die!

I must have missed every funny post he's ever types and just seen the trolling then. It's not even intelligent trolling. The bloke's a complete bell.
I thought it was an hones question!
I didn't realise it was either of those!
Satire = People who think they are clever trying to be funny.

Agreed. His training tips are brilliant.
If you read the original thread (phones in schools), it makes more sense.PeterPoddy - Member

spot on!
Druid, I was on my phone, just the first thread I clicked on, being as I was on my phone at work!
Hence satire (if it was that) was lost on me. Which it generally is anyway, to be fair. Just about the most unfunny 'humour' there is, IMO....
🙂
Aye 'tis always the risk with the switch thread,
first thread I read this morning too, but it was a bit obvious that it was an in-joke or referencing another thread, the bit about "despite not working and never will" was a giveaway.Druid, I was on my phone, just the first thread I clicked on, being as I was on my phone at work!

satire -
the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc
Trolling -
The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Trolling does not mean just making rude remarks: Shouting swear words at someone doesn't count as trolling; it's just flaming, and isn't funny. Spam isn't trolling either; it pisses people off, but it's lame. The most essential part of trolling is convincing your victim that either a) truly believe in what you are saying, no matter how outrageous, or b) give your victim malicious instructions, under the guise of help.
Trolling requires decieving; any trolling that doesn't involve decieving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccesful troll.
Whether you find either funny/entertaining is down to nothing more than your own personal sense of humour
FWIW I don't really troll, every ban I've ever been given has been for typing the truth.
is satire against the rules now too? what about sarcasm?
The rules here don't really make sense.

Agreed. If they did ElfinrudeFred wouldn't be serving life.

Amen brother.
I got a 1,000 year, or something equally ridiculous, ban for asking about Audi A5s.

Yep. That's clever people trying to be funny. I was right.

Why not, tho? Have nothing in your [s]Home[/s] forum that is neither [s]useful nor beautiful[/s] funny nor smart.
