Can you please advice me, I've looked on Amazon, eBay and there are loads ao deals but now Im really confused.

Currently found this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duracell-Capless-64GB-Memory-Drive/dp/B008FKGMY0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1360408036&sr=8-4

Is it any good??

I do use memory stick as a secondary back up and the Duracell sticks are very robust I have a couple of 32gb and some 8s. Main back up is a external hard drive. Memory stick is good option as no moving parts like a hard drive so as long as u look after them there ok . The online stuff for back up also very good. Personally I wouldn't rely on just one stick for all I tend to use the memory sticks to back up the diff types of photography such as family events and one for holidays. I find that easier to use a a filing system to.

Why memory stick?

What are you trying to achieve? Backup? Portable storage? Something else?

How much data are you looking at? Will that change?

You'd be better served long-term with an external hard disk, then.

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/500gb-toshiba-store-basics-portable-25-usb-30-20-hard-drive-bus-powered-pc-mac

... as a random example. 500Gb against 64Gb for an extra ten quid over the pendrive.

if you use USB sticks as storage, use at least 2. I've had them fail withou warning and totally unrecoverable. At least with a proper USB disc you might be able to mount it direct if the interface fails

Like a USB key only bigger. They're both removable storage.

+1 for an external hard drive. As previously stated, memory sticks fail and are too easily lost as well.

I am also not convinced by "cloud" storage, at least for a sole means of storage: Great as a means to an end (file transfer, temporary storage for holiday pics etc) but I still feel more comfortable using hardware I can maintain and control.

I just use old hard drives... Not in enclosures or anything. Cheap and cheerful but it works very well- slightly fiddlier on a laptop mind.

Flickr gives you unlimited online storage / backup for about $30 / year.
