I’m sure I’ve seen a few folks on here recommending a book to help you figure out what career might suit you but I can’t for the life of me find it mentioned. Something to do with 10 balloons? Or parachutes? Maybe!
For a friend, not me!
Yep that'll be it.
Tbh I found it a bit onerous. It’s a structured way of finding out what suits you best, but IMO, it’s then your decision about what to do, or to compromise.
Hannah, after advice from here I found Reset by David Sawyer more comfortable, with a series of principles you can follow or ignore but a general sensible direction of personal / family happiness as a purpose.
I used to run a coaching programme in my old job and would sometimes use Schein’s Career Anchors questionnaire with coachees. The questionnaire can be found online, plus guidance - you don’t need to pay for analytics. What Colour is Your Parachute is helpful too, but a bit dated as the world of work has changed a fair bit since it was written.
As always, thanks folks!
Maybe your friend should have talked to Mark first ?
Ken Livingstone's books are also great!
