One of my twins goes for jam, the other syrup and I prefer a little sprinkling of sugar. What's your tipple? Anyone tried salt?!

had salt once in scotland, was pretty good actually. they don't put it on the top, it goes in the pan. i have syrup, and sometimes cream if there is any. i am getting fat tho. have had a stint of honey in the past but expensive... how do you do yours? i soak over night, half a cup oats, half a cup milk and half a cup water, wake up, put it on a low light and its ready by the time i'm dressed. yummy

Oats, pan, skimmed, simmer while drinking tea. Forget about it, remember, add more milk & eventually consume. Sometimes using a bowl.

I wonder if they managed to get horse meat in their porridge too? 😀

Normally a guilty swirl of golden syrup for me. OR banana and maple syrup.

Blackcurrant jam.

Ideally it would be my Dad's homemade blackcurrant jam, but he's dead and Mum sold all our blackcurrant bushes to a bloke down the road.

Sometimes just brown sugar or maple syrup.

Honey and banana - hot porridge poured over the banana in the bowel so it warms it up

1/2 cup oats, 3/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup water.

Splash of cold milk at the end to loosen it up

Milk or water, plain or augmented, it's all good in my book. Try the following:

A tablespoon of Whole Earth crunchy peanut butter stirred in, with chopped bananas on top.

Or for a more summery option, creme fraiche and fresh raspberries.

Mr AdamW sometimes puts a small amount of single malt in his. I make it so it has skimmed milk and sultanas in. Made in a pan so it's really creamy (good big oats).

Then tinned fruit, but I'm partial to blueberries if I feel posh.

Various ways depending on what mood I'm in, but always made with 2:1 milk to water and a pinch of salt.

Golden syrup or honey
Banana
Raisins
Cashew nuts
Apricots (dried)
(Any combination of the above)
Raspberry or bramble jam
Whisky

Why not put the bananas in while cooking?

I'll try it! - might be too mushy

2ish mins in the microwave seems to be ok. If you find them too mushy, then just bung them in half way through cooking, or cut them chunkier.
