You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My dad has one of these - 1943 Dennis Merryweather Turntable (not that actual one and probably in better nick). Google tells me there were 43 made of which only about 10 are still known to exist (not sure if his is one of those 10).
It's not on the road and whilst I know he had the engine running about 10 years ago (a gallon of fuel gave about 15 minutes idling) I'm not sure how much he's done to it since.
It's possible he'll be looking to sell it so I'm trying to get an idea on what it might be worth and where to look to sell it.
Blimey. Good luck with that one fella! Although, if anyone can get an answer, STW can! 🙂
Personally, I'd try contacting a classic vehicle magazine, there's ones for trucks and tracors and the like
darn, I had a bet with myself that the first response would be £5 posted 😉
was going to look into other avenues but thought stw was the obvious place to start!
Sad as it sounds, there are magazines for those who collect and "follow" fire engines, seen them in the old Borders bookstores before they closed, might be worth seeing if they can give advice.
To the right person I'd guess there could be quite a lot of value tied up in a potentially rare vehicle like this.
Can't give you any specific advice, but I've been messing with old army trucks for a while.
As a general rule, anything WW2 vintage is worth more than anything newer.
Being rare doesn't necessarily make it worth more.
http://www.hmvf.co.uk/ is probably the best place to ask for more information. It's a military vehicle forum, but it tends to cover NFS, AFS, and Civil Defence vehicles as well.
fantastic looking bit of kit, you need to post piccy's of your dad one.
Just a quick google produced this.

Museum piece, worth donating, not sure it'd be worth buying to sell on though, and I'd feel I'd jipped the guy if I bought it off him for a fiver posted and then sold it for much more. And i'd feel jipped and time wasted if I made less on it.
It'd make an interesting trail feature! 🙂
wwaswas - Your dad must be Albert Steptoe. Which makes you Harooooold!
What a great way to turn up at Glentress and a busy Sunday.
Like it a lot.
Apparently there's a guy near Basingstoke who collects all things fire engine - can try to find out more if you want...
I'd probably phone up Beaulieu motor musuem see if there is any interest...
And it already has a bike rack fitted. Perfect biking vehicle.
Back in the early eighties my dad swapped a 109" Land Rover for this.

JulianA - would appreciate it if you could. He's not really made a decision yet (it was his dream to own it but he's not really done much with it since he got it) but I'd like to understand what he coudl do if he does decide to sell it.
