Am I just confused by this internet computer thing now i'm over 30, or are Amazon putting more and more products in the 'Prime members only' category?
Last thing i thought of buying was this SSD - on 'choose delivery' all the options are prime; does this mean I have to sign up to the annual fee prime service? I don't need next day delivery generally, so hae no intention to join prime.
opened it in an incognito window and doest say prime only to me although couldn't get all the way through to delivery options so can't check all the way. (I am currently on a 1 month trial of prime to get Xmas stuff in time).
Prime is supposedly Amazon's tool to take out ALL the competition.

The delivery options look like they always have to me.
One thing that has changed though is the speed of delivery - used to be in 1 or 2 days no matter what option was selected. A week or more is now normal for Free delivery.
I can see me using Amazon a lot less if they continue to push Prime as the only reliable option.
As above, delivery option same as normal for me. I went back and clicked the try prime button and got only prime options. I suspect that's what you did.

I signed up for Prime for a year (I've had counselling for the death of the two kittens I caused.) It was because we had a number of purchases to make for deadly junior and others coming up. They also stock quite a few consumables I use for work and are way cheaper to buy from. Along with the video and unlimited cloud photo storage thrown in, it's been quite good value.

I think if you join Prime you get the instant video. If you were with Lovefilm you now have Prime Instant Video (which is me) but I still get asked if I want to join Prime.
