Well British Gas seem to think charging some one that is classed as a free assement.
British Gas called me to offer a breakdown service, the monthly fee was pretty good. However they said they would send someone out to make sure the old boiler was serviceable.
We had that visit.
Tonight I've just opened a letter from them.
Please pay £127.50 for work completed.
I'm frothing, my missus is laughing her butt off. I asked what was so funny? She said the gasman had told her as he was walking in that if it was the original boiler in these houses it was way beyond repair if it failed, he looked at it andjust said yep can't do, and had a cup of my missuses coffee.
So £127.50 for doing nothing, I therefore reckon about three million quid should cover my missus making him a cuppa.

Yep, I had this. Nobody mentioned a fee for the assessment, they came around and said it needed some work doing before they could cover it and then charged me £90 odd for the privielege of telling me my boiler was bust. I was ****ing fuming...still am just thinking about it and that was 3 years ago.

I will never use British Gas again.

Send them an invoice for £150 for "services rendered", ie. Waitress service and tea/coffee, plus the resultant washing up. Plus the door had to be opened and closed after the guy. Sounds fair to me. Didn't you tell them you were going to charge for this? Well **ck me, they didn't tell you either. And you might have to charge them to counter the stress of being told your fully functional boiler is now not working.

you can easily overturn that fee.

It just will take a few letters and an awful lot of time on hold!
