Home made Mia Sofia pizza and garlic bread followed by Eton Mess. Bloody lovely, very few dishes and loads of time for everyone to be together.

We do have a more formal lobster dinner on Christmas Eve though.

We're hosting and I'm cooking.
Melon and star fruit for starters, with rasperry coolie. Might put on some parma ham too.
Mains: standard roast turkey with roast tatos, a shoulder of lamb for me, stuffing, pigs in blankets, 3 veg: probably carrots, peas and cabbage.
Desert: cake and ice cream.
Drinks: Stella Artois 😉 (only joking, some sort of wine the wife is sorting, although when I asked my bil what he wants to drink he said Lime Cordial!!! weirdo)

Roast pork for us, from one of my sister's pigs. I'm hoping it'll be a Berkshire, but could be a Tamworth or an Oxford Sandy and Black. With as many trimmings as I can be bothered doing, but definitely pigs in blankets from the same animal.

So that's basically pork, sausages, bacon and maybe a couple of sprouts.

That sounds a peasants dinner RD, something you'd have on a Tuesday.

Roast ham, Roast chook, enough trimmings to last a month and masses of sprouts, roast taters, parsnip carrot and gravy.

It's my favourite days cooking of the year.

Going to Florida and it's apparently Lobster and Beef. Jesus would have loved it.

Sadly it means I miss the most important part of the Christmas eating- the most beer I consume at one time all year in the pub on Christmas Eve.

First year in about 10 years or more I haven't hosted, off to Ma's this year so not sure of the full menu. There will be lots though and plenty of fluids too.

Xmas pud is here though ready to take over next week, love Xmas pud.

Fresh topside Gammon, caramelised carrots, sweet potato thrice fried fries.
Then marble chocolate brownie cake and custard.
This monday as thats my "xmas " day with the kids.
The actual day can go do one and I'll be as far away from all the shite as possible.

i will add there will be shed loads of cheese for supper, bu non of your fancy stuff, just good old sharp cheddar and maybe an oxford blue

Got two delayed Xmas dinners scheduled with remote relatives for early Jan, so not gonna bother with a roast on Xmas Day this year.

Wife's requested risotto - one of my specialities - so I'm mulling over the contents now.

Thinking king prawns and some green veggies. Probably not sprouts though.

I'm cooking and I hate Turkey, so....

Large chunk 3.5kg) of Aberdeen Angus for us - prepared following Tom Kerridges 'treacle cured' recipe.

The veggies will be getting home made wild mush room + herb pies.
i'll do all the usual pigs in blankets/sprouts/etc.

Boxing day the outlaws are coming - we'll be having cold beef, and i'll knock up some brie/red onion and cranberry tarts for the veggies, and some cheddar/red onion/smokey bacon tarts for the meat eaters.

Loads of nice cheese all ready in fridge.

I enjoy Christmas cooking. a lot.

It's tempting but If i didn't show up it would upset my mother for no good reason, and she's old enough and done enough for the both of us over the years that she doesn't deserve that. Christmas has never really been a big deal to me so i'm happy enough to just go with the flow for one day.

Although I think I might do a rib of beef on boxing day, It seems to be the STW Christmas plat du jour.

Another for the rib of beef, turkey is over rated in my opinion, and after working in a butchers shop for years the last thing i want to see on christmas day is another bloody turkey.

Well, we got given some ration packs at work yesterday for if we get called out and unable to get food so it could be either vegetable curry or chilli.

Yorkshire pot. Boned turkey, stuffed with boned chicken, stuffed with boned duck, stuffed with boned pheasant, stuffed with boned partridge stuffed with venison pate and held together by various stuffings. Not had one for abour 10 years but local butcher does it as a specialty.

Previous years have included various roasts although Bison was probably most exotic. Kids still give honourable mention to the year we were all full of cold and had pizza.

We're hosting this year, looking forward to it (kind of) for starters, baked figs parma ham and goats cheese. for main, beef wellington buttered cabbage carrots and roast potatoes. for dessert peanut butter fondant. yum yum yum!

Going around the parent's as usual, just the four of us.

Traditional turkey and the rest: I love it. Best meal of the year. Washed down with lots of wine/champagne and whatever else is available (pretty much anything we want) and lots of nibbles.

I am alone so probably slow cook some lamb stew so I don't have to cook for few days.

Bake some banana bread.

Have some chips and experiment with cooking if I can be arsed.

Going to do a double rib roast. From the last beast I killed before I sold all my cattle. Been in the freezer for last 5 years but will be fine 🙂

And pigs in blankets. Can't do xmas dinner without pigs in blankets

and roast parsnips

We thought about the Xmas dinner thing, but have to travel on Boxing Day and something like a turkey wouldn't get consumed in time.

This year the current plan is to have lasagne - with pigs in blankets of course.

The kids just want to play on their new stuff, and we can't be bothered to cook stuff for hours and hours, only for the kids not to eat it all in their rush back to the toys - so an easier route for all

Haven't done Turkey for years. Only real chance I have each year to cook 'properly' which is something I love to do. This year I'm doing...

Smoked salmon scotch eggs with a sprout salad and caper Mayo.

Pork (pressed and roast belly, braised cheeks, crispy pigs ears, scratchings and pigs in blankets). Roast spuds. Parsnips. Red cabbage. A rich pork gravy

Home made Christmas pudding.

I know a lot of people only eat turkey because that's what people do, and they don't like it, but I actually do like it quite a lot. I wish we had it more often 🙂

We generally have an alternative meat though too. I think gammon this time.

We'll be having venison at my folks but I'd have been more than happy with turkey. My dad used to get a nice free range one from a friend but they were getting stupidly expensive.

Everyone else in the house is having turkey and all the trimmings. Me, I can't stand it so a nice bowl of pasta perhaps with a fishy sauce, warm bread and a nice glass or two of beaujolais. Perfect. Will be fit and ready for a Boxing Day run.

My dad cooked last year and everything that wasn't burnt was cold.

This year I'll be leaving him and my girlfriend in the pub whilst I cook rib of beef with duck fat roasties, pigs in blankets (no sub 85% pork sausages for me,) with a plethora of vegetables and probably some sprouts with smoked bacon and chestnuts. Hence why I won't be joining them in the pub, too much for me to screw up.

Hopefully I can then get a few drinks down me before the food coma strikes

Boxing day I'm going to my mums so Fillet steam, spuds and peppercorn sauce and veg medium rare.

Salmon for the missus.

Over the years people have lost that loving feeling for goose but I find that their mighty wings, after cooking for a couple of hours in the danger zone takes my breath away.

Chicken 'pillow' and a big ol' smoked gammon joint on the day. Kedgeree (inc last of the pig) on Boxing Day. Chicken curry and a few side dishes the day after.

Going to fire up the BBC if the weather remains as is 🙂

i'm at the inlaws this year, so raw salmon, boiled ham and oven-baked mashed root vegetables. And it's on the 24th.

Luckily, there's a Christmas pudding coming in the post and I'll sneak some pigs-in-blankets into the oven.

Hmmmmm. We used to have goose, but it simply won't feed six adults, and for the last few years we have always had rib of beef, an absolute treat, and of course the leftovers and dripping are a bonus.

This year we have had a rethink. The last turkey I ate was an organic free range bronze, and it was really quite good. Mrs Scape is now asking what we want. My heart says rib again, but I suppose a good turkey wouldn't be dreadful, as long as I get to make the bread sauce.

Had a trial run yesterday for Christmas dinner. Rib of beef is now off the menu as the missus declared it 'too fatty. I can't eat that.'

I did not plan on needing a plan b. I'm contemplating just forgetting to wake her up when I leave.

Leg of lamb with roast spuds and veg.

Nothing special but it is my fave meat and we only have it a couple of times a year so it'll still be a treat.

Nice bottle of medoc to go with it too.

I hate cooking on Christmas Day! By the time I have got everything ready I never feel hungry! So we now get oven ready everything and accept that we are slightly lazy! So this years menu (sponsored by Lidl) :

Smoked salmon blinis
5 bird roast
Roast potatoes, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings, pigs n in blankets of course 🙂
For pudding......... They had a special on vienettas so we have one of each flavour!

No faff and I will keep my appetite:-)

Yes I do bring the demographic slightly 🙂

Is it tradional to serve yorkshire pudding with crismas lunch? thought it was only to be had with beef?
I don't wanna cause a faux paux.
I've bought 2 large bottles of Leffe to consume while preparing said lunch so I may be slurring while eating. I will then fall asleep on the sofa afterwards wearing my paper hat at a jaunty angle, congratulations I am now my father.
