Couple of years back every supermarket had deals on low energy light bulbs. However, it now seems that halogen have taken over?
Why is this?
Grab some LEDs and don't look back
Low energy bulbs, and halogen, were just missteps on the way to LED/OLED.
Halogen have taken over ? On what planet ?
Low energy were crap
Halogen were expensive
Leds are just ace - provided you avoid the ultra cheap ones ....
I think you'll find the low energy ones were subsidised, now they retail at their proper price folk no longer are willing to cough up for them.
LED is the future, will take a wee while to ramp up to an economy of scale
Low energy were crap
Only some. Particularly those sold in bulk by a certain large blue and yellow retailer. Many really good ones to be found, but who reads lightbulb reviews? (worth doing in this case though)
All of mine were Philips and Osram. And all were shyte.
Halogen ftw (apart from their longevity).
Looking at LED but it's going to cost a fortune to swap.
Best ones I have have a starter built into the light fitting and you just buy the tube. But also got a few others that are great.
