Costs overun for sure but IMO an enquiry was needed. Let's hope this is the last one.

I'd have given a million to each of the deads' families, plus half a mill to the severly wounded - at least they'd have been happier.

And we'd have saved a fortune.

I would though like to see a breakdown of the costs, just what has been going on since 2004 when the Enquiry closed?

Was it money they were after, or just a little bit of justice? Not all problems in life can be solved with £££, unless you live in America.

I buy Scotland and kill deer and sheep, and plant trees. A massive bothy renovation would take place, and a bothy police force would be formed to eliminate and educate scum. I'd get Scottish Power to increase compensation flow from hydro schemes to improve river ecosystems (plan A use lawyers, plan B subsidise). I'd buy up trail centres and close them because they are crap. Generally speaking.

That's a great quote, but I suspect Michael Caine didn't really have in mind people whose relatives had been shot by soldiers on Bloody Sunday.

If my wife / brother / father etc had been killed under those circumstances, a million quid pay off would not make me happy, especially if it was in lieu of some sort of investigation, which is what I was getting at.
