awaits the crap jokes!...No seriously ..just went to the local tip and was intrigued by this monster stool so I bought it for £4 . It's solid as could be with a strong steel construction / heavy duty rubber feet and a very large upholstered pad on the top ..much bigger than any bottom would need ( well..ok maybe in America!).
I'm a tall chap and it's too tall at 1 metre to sit on with feet on the ground . Someone suggested it could be a piece of gym equipment as it's so solidly built ..I reckon it could take 500 kilos or more easily . I'm somehow not sure as the seat pad is fairly soft rather than dense as you might expect if to be used for gymnastics etc . Can anyone enlighten me or make a suggestion as to what it's designed for

Isn't it just close to the camera?

Top looks too padded for Plyometrics, they normally just have 10mm rubber matting glued on.
@captainflasheart

To get an idea the pad is a square with approx 40cm sides
Might be a stool for an actual giant or a prop from The Borrowers, Gulliver’s Travels, Honey I shrunk the kids or Ant Man. Or a stunt chair from that there wrestling designed exclusively for hitting Andre the Giant with.
Regular chair for a strong man competitor? Kitchen furniture from the Predator’s summer retreat? Worlds most massive stool from the Guinness book of records, thrown away because some bastard made one 3mm larger, thus regulating this one to the land of broken records.
Foot juggling, Matt.
Thought that was obvious.
It's the why I'm struggling for...
Is it for a draftsman, sat at a drawing board? You know from the "olden days" before CAD when a chap would sit down with a huge A0 bit of paper and hand draw things, the big seat it to allow him to shift about a bit rather than have to reposition the stool every 5 mins...
if for a draughtsman ...why the excess height?
Isn't the whole point is you sit high up so don't need to put for feet on the grounds a bit like a barstool?
Just How tall is it?
your photo doesn't really convey the same giant scale...
If it's as huge and robust as you say I'd imagine Circus stuff.
