You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm doing the Three Peaks in a little over the week and am going to treat myself to some waterproof trousers that I can sling on over a pair of shorts.
I don't want to spend a fortune as realistically I won't wear them much after next weekend, but equally don't want to be living in a pair of bin-bag trousers for 24 hours.
I've looked at Alpkit (I'm a shareholder, but I don't want to stump up £115 at this point) and at army surplus (mil-spec appeals, but unsure of sizing - local army surplus has no stock to try) so far.
Any suggestions of others I should look at?
In the Great STW tradition of ignoring the OPs question entirely, the ones I got from Alpkit have been great.
Berghaus Deluges: cheap, different leg lengths, not the most breathable or lightweight, but just *work*.
Berghaus Paclite: light, breathable, very waterproof, different leg lengths, you don't need more, but more expensive.

I have the decathlon trail running ones and pretty happy. So light compared to my old pair. They will tear quite easily if you fall over in them though!
My mountain warehouse ones are perfectly adequate. Very waterproof, quite light and seem to be tough enough. Fit the bill as for me they're a "just in case" type of thing.

They are 30 quid on Sport Pursuit right now. Seems like a reasonable price for something you may not even need to wear and will possibly never use again.

Or just borrow some from a mate?

😂
But also good to know. Is this the Parallax trousers?
Thanks all. Looked at the Berghaus but for an extra tenner figured I'd wear the Decathlon running trousers either on the bike or running over winter, so I pressed the button on them.
