As prequels are all the rage now here's one for the "What was the last thing you repaired?" thread!

My first submission:
I've recently become quite obsessed with Shelly wireless relays and home energy monitoring. We have a holiday place that I like to control/monitor remotely and it has PV on the roof and I've recently set up a Shelly energy monitor to show how much power is being produced and how much is being exported back to the grid - this is very handy as it can automatically switch various heating devices on and off depending upon conditions that I've set up.

We also have a boat and I thought it would be fun to monitor the state of the batteries and the sea temperature.  Shelly have neat solution for that called the Uni that I can power from the boat battery and it will monitor said battery as we as run a couple of temperature sensors.
So I ordered one and yesterday sat down and very carefully made the connections to the temperature sensors and the wires going to the battery - all good so I thought I'd test it on a spare battery in the garage prior to fitting it into the boat.  I made the first connection to the battery then the second and poof...... magic smoke out of the Uni 🔥 😩
I'd been so focused on getting the connections to the Uni correct I'd forgotten to check the battery and attached the positive to the negative 🤦‍♂️

I've got another Uni arriving today - thankfully they're not expensive!

I bought a Sealey portable jetwash off SportPursuit. Fill it with water, plug it into the car ciggy socket,  press trigger and it was brill for washing the bike (ok for the car too). I got a new car and kept shutting the boot on the cable. Eventually it stopped working cos I knackered the cable doing that (obviously). Was gutted.

But, I emailed Sealey, asked it I could buy a replacement cable, and they replied within 10 minutes with a photo saying "It it one of these?" 2 days later replacement arrives, wired it in, fixed! I shall take better care of it.

A 4/0 piercing saw blade. Well actually I broke two in quick succession due to lack of technique/practice working on a ring commission.

A stone cutting blade on my angle grinder!

I was VERY lucky, the blade exploded and a bit hit me in the nose and cut it. I was wearing safety glasses but was lucky nothing else got hit or a bigger piece didn't hit me!!....

Blimey ads, you were lucky. I hate angle grinders. I've actually been rewriting a safety process at work today to better manage their use on site.

Not a H&S person but always goggles with a grinder or drilling at awkward angles, after having a small piece of steel miss my glasses and embed in my eyeball.

As to the Op,

inanimate objects- my work phone case. I left it in the wireless charger thingy and it overheated and I assume the glue melted causing the back to fall off.

Me- double pelvis fracture.

Rather annoyingly, my leg.

playing football with work on Wednesday, one dodgy tackle 10 mins in and I’m typing this from a hospital bed as they rebuilt just under the knee cap with some bolts and plates this morning.

there goes my summer of running and riding. Gutted doesn’t cover it.
