What was in the box?
Guess:
a. 1 million pounds
b. the old engine
c. some crap (keyring/pen/mug)
What's in the box?
Is it full of empty promises?
Bit insulting giving you some marketing tat. I'll give it back to them if I ever get mine done.
Any difference in the drive?
What new technology has been developed to improve things?
It's not new technology, it's a different map. I'd imagine your car will just end up in a different emissions category IF they have the facility to recategorise it. Or maybe they've just come up with a better map in the first place.
Umm did they not announce that the fix would included a modification to the air intake system (air flow conditioner iirc) that allowed the car to more accurately measure the incoming air volume and fuel the engine more accurately. This was 'new technology' as it was developed for the next generation engines.

I drove about 1 mile. Unless they've put a chip in which attracts OLD PEOPLE who brake for no reason, WOMEN who stop at roundabout for no reason and LORRIES which do a 20-point-turn in the road you decide to go down, I'd say there is no difference whatsoever.
Some people will pretend they notice something, but if they'd secretly nicked it off my driveway, done the fix overnight and put it back without me knowing, I would never know it had been touched. (As it was it was driven by a midget who moved the seat within an inch of the steering wheel, adjusted all the mirrors and switched the headlights to manual.)
Never mind in the drive, what's it like on the road?

Yeah! And I should've put all the dirt back on they cleaned off as well. The bastards.
Any difference in the drive?
The average driver is not going to notice if there is and the cynic in me suspects those that think they notice something will be imagining it.
^^ that's what I said (although I'm a very below average driver.)
Think I was typing as you posted :D.

If it's anything like the way some makers like Hyunadi have got around emissions regs with the way their cars drive coming from the way they drive currently it will be noticeable to anyone.
Perhaps they have managed it without making it a bit less nice, I'm pleased to hear from at least one owner it's not noticeable.
...and still no apology from 'em.
and still no apology from 'em
Er...
and still no apology from 'emEr...
Damn it! What am I supposed to whinge about now? Their free wifi wasn't very quick when I went for a service at VW last week, I suppose...
VW or any other car maker might think twice next time. So fine away IMO.
Oh bum. I thought I'd noticed a difference in engine behaviour.. its a DSG and wasn't moving forward when stopped... just checked, the buggers have put Auto-hold on! Never used it, so drove all the way home thinking I'd spotted something exciting! 😳
DezB have you felt any loss of power or mpg etc?
Auto hold is good, you should use it.
My Skoda was done in July. Bugger all difference to the fuel economy or the way it drives. I got a BRIGHT GREEN Skoda brolly, a notepad and a thermal mug. The value appears unaffected and it's still more economical and less polluting than most cars this size. Storm in a teacup.
So what exactly have they done? Turned off the cheat device?
It's been widely reported that everything dips.
Well US owners got all that and compensation with an offer to buy their vehicle back.
As far as I am aware your car would no longer pass the emissions test (note letter says CO2 not other emissions), it will drive more or less the same. The Government have committed that they will not change the VED as a result.

See my 2nd paragraph under " any difference in the drive"

Was nearly jealous then... but realised ...Skoda 😀
I was quite pleased with my cup, until my brother sent me this link -
VW confirmed late Friday it will make $1.21 billion in payments to 652 U.S. brand dealers
"VW agreed buy back 475,0000 U.S. vehicles equipped with 2.0 liter engines at a cost of up to $10.03 billion or offer fixes if regulators approve. To date, about 311,000 owners have already registered to take part in the settlement"
Blimey
😯
Yup as I have said before UK owners are getting well and truely shafted.
