I don't want large speakers and plan to just listen with headphones. Would like a decent hi-fi quality but not stupid expensive. Maybe a budget of up to a grand for the lot. What's good nowadays (have been without hi-fi gear for years)?
Mine dates from 1986, so not what you're after.

Rotel RA10 amp
Bereseford Caiman DAC (for PC/Digital tunes)
Grado SR80 headphones (Connected to the DAC)
