I have a couple of boxes in my possession. They beloned to a family friend who died young and decades before i was born.
He was married but died quite youngish without any kids.
The box contains, vrious stuff of his life.
War record in the Intelligence Corp in north africa/middle east including stamped papers etc
Various bits of his history as a librarian on the isle of white.
Personal stuff like letters and photos and a condolence letter to his wife from Mountbatten.
Various interesting "general" wartime stuff, blank blueys, various guide pamphlet things for soldiers out on the lash. Programmes and things from the various military entertainment organisations.
Now i could just hoy it all in the bin, i accept with no one really to receive them the letters and photos are destined for them. Sad but it is what it is, unless others have ideas.
But the other stuff might be of interest i just don't know where to look.
Any local history or regimental records people might be able to offer advice perhaps? It sounds a fascinating insight into his life.

I completely agree about museums* just not sure where to start.

The military stuff, talk to his former regiment first, then the IWM. Don’t bin it, stuff like that is of historical significance. Personal stuff, check with local museum or the local museum, again it’s all of historical significance.

If he was Int, please do talk to the regiment (or at least the Regimental Museum) first. Information on what people got up to during wartime (even if it was ordinary stuff) can help build up a picture of the Corps and might fit into things that they either display or record.
