I have an old F10 MK4 std (3 man), I've been using for at least 36 years. I did my queen's scout with it and now I'm less stupid I use it as a Basecamp tent only. Loads of room for 1 person and kit boxes etc.
On the last outing the fly has finally died beyond repair so I've happily spent £100 getting a modern replacement.
I'm just wondering what to do with the old fly, a sunscreen fly extension for summer stuff? Anyone have any other ideas?

You chop one end off and make an extension.
You need some more poles.
This was something you could actually buy as an accessory.
Is the replacement cotton or nylon? My fly is a couple of things spots, reckon it's one fqrt away from just shredding itself.
It's cotton, similar weight/weave but darker than original but still quite bright (rescue helicopter friendly if I'm being charitable).
Humm, could get away with a single pole and open end maybe?

You probably could yeah. The bell *ahem* end would do a good job of keeping it upright. You might have to drop it early in windy weather, its pretty steepsided for a single pole.

Wrong way round. You cut up the storage bag to patch the fly...
Make a cool duvet cover for the spare bed
Then when it's done, cut it up and use as a dust sheet for decorating.
Then, catch your hedge and garden clippings in it so you can take them to the tip in the car
Finally, cut it into rags to wipe you dirty bike down and clean your greasy hands
It's life cycle will then be complete

The groundsheet of a force 10 was one of the best things about it, unless you were the unlucky sod carrying the tent. Solid, would last years and easy to repair should something puncture it. No footprints!
Yeah, fly extension is what I would go for with whatever pole setup you can pull together.
I've just been looking at that Blacks Of Greenock 'spares' link up there.
As a general comment it appears that, so long as you still have the front & rear A-frames and a few suitable pegs, you can organise yourself a brand-new Force10 tent of one size or another for about £200-£250. That's a Billy Bargain for these things, considering the prices for the full replacements are roughly twice that. They've not got any lighter than they were back in the 1970s, mind.
