[Closed] What to do with a cycling jersey?

A few years ago my then-partner won a cycling jersey signed by Mark Cavendish in a competition. I had this professionally framed and it lived on my wall for a little while until she did a moonlit flit three years ago.

It's like a metre square give or take, the framing alone was somewhere pushing £300 at the time so there is presumably some monetary value to it. The only issue is that it's dedicated to her by name.

The question is, what do I do with it now? It's an odd-shaped custom-built frame so I can't readily disassemble and re-purpose it for something else. The permanent marker dedication could probably be stain-removed out I guess but that'd mean someone stripping and rebuilding it all. Yet it seems wrong to just throw it out. I'd pass it on to the original owner but I've not heard from her in over a year and to be honest have no desire to draw first blood here.

Yeah... no.

And call me Mr Paranoid but I don't expect that me asking my current girlfriend to change her name to match my ex's would result in a harmonious relationship for the imminent future.

Surely there are plenty of other Louises who might want to buy it?

Make it into a face mask - carefully not using the signed dedication part.

If its your ex partners, return it to her, sounds like it hers rather than yours?

If you're no longer in contact and have no way of getting it to her via family and friends, then sell it/auction it. Signed jerseys are really popular.

Just Flog it?

Doubt it's worth more than the frame (Example) but who wants to keep a framed reminder of an ex knocking about.

If she really wanted it, she'd have taken it with her, right?
Unless you're a bit funny about tin alignment and by "moonlit flit" you mean faked her own death in a storm at sea...

Expunge all those negative emotions and have a super strength lager fuelled ceremonial burning.

So with the font on the forum, sometimes 'r' and 'n' run together to look like an 'm'.

my current girlfriend

I know you are an IT type so have to ask....is she real or made up?  If the latter a name change can’t be that hard can it?

Woops I just did a search for that, you know because I was hoping to discover it was a really boring word for some sort of mind numbing manufacturing process.

As above, ceremonial cremation of said jersey before inhaling the fumes to gather strength. IANAD. DTTAH. DYOR.

Remove the top and get it to the ex...keep frame and replace previous top with one you like...or, to save time and effort in removing the frame, just sellotape your preferred top in front of the current top...

Stick it on ebay for 99p no reserve and be done with it, the money you spent is gone so treat whatever you get for it as a bonus and do something nice with your current Mrs/kids/dog etc.

Life's too short and all that

Somebody mentioned changing your name by deed poll. Surely if your name was Chief Detective Jason **** (bruneep's article above) that would be a more compelling reason than a signed jersey?!

ha, just realised that you can't type the word * without the site overtyping it as *. Even though it is the poor chap's name.

Full name or just first name? If its just a first name then there should be a market for it.

Basically what's the name?

First name. I've PMed you (I don't think it's fair to mention names in public).
