if its hot and sunny, Happy Mount Park is good for kids as they have an aqua park with loads of water sprays and fountains for kids to play in.

Morecambe has pretty good transport links to other places. 😉

yup it's not far from the motorway, best bet is jump on the M6 and go somewhere else.

Happy Mount Park is great for the kids. Loads for the little 'uns to do. Pack their swimming costumes. If you head north up the coast, Arnside and Silverdale are absolutely lovely little places. You could go for a stroll up Arnside Knott. Great views from the top over the fells. Lots of birdwatching places around there on the marshes.

Its worth travelling a couple of stops up on the train from Morcombe just for the journey, as it goes along the coast, and is a beautiful journey. Heres where it crosses the bay at Arnside....

That view is from the top of the knott, which is a short enough walk for little legs. Oh... theres a little bakery by the bridge that does great pies, you can sit and munch while you admire the view.

And treat yourself to afternoon tea on the terrace at the recently restored Midland Hotel too. Its art deco gorgeousness!

Cross bay walk? Kids can go on the tractor trailer if they're knackered.

I've heard they're always short of cockle pickers

There was an old joke back in the days of Bernard Manning and the Wheel Tappers and shunters club back in the 70's that the coaches going through Blackpool Illuminations were stopping off at Morecambe to watch the Traffic Lights change.

I was there a couple of weeks ago helping my mate with a job he had there and, from my time as a teenager, it's gone downhill big style.

Yes. I walked past one of them washed up. 🙁

What binners said plus Lancaster could be worth a visit (ideally on a train as traffic can be terrible). Williamson Park is lovely with stunning views, the castle, Atkinson's coffee shop/hall cafe or music room cafe in sun square, The Borough, Go Burrito.

Also in Morecambe take a look at the community centre/venue where I work and if there's a gig or workshop on, go to it! Lots of interesting stuff happens there.

+1 for Silverdale/Arnside - visit Leighton Moss RSPB reserve. Walk round Jenny Brown's point starting at the Wolf House cafe (fab cakes).
Also in Lancaster Williamson Park there's the Butterfly House and down on the Quays the Maritime Museum.

Leighton moss is great. Free entry if you arrive by train, the station is only a couple of hundred yards from the reserve. We saw a peregrin being harrassed by a pair of marsh harriers

Silverdale and Arnside are great for a wander. As grum says, Williamson park in Lancaster is great - the Ashton memorial is the big building you can see from the motorway and the butterfly house should be great for kids

Possibly a bit old for the kids, the power station visitor center.

+1 on Happymount park, Williamson mmorial and the maritime museum too.
