Hi all,
in true last minute stylee, i'm off to Budapest this weekend with the Mrs (Fri-Mon) with little more than an inkling of what we're going to do - staying in Jozefvaros.
Have contacted a couple of restaurants we quite fancied but in true "told you to book that sooner..." style they're now full so i'm also looking for some nice places to eat too - not quite fine dining, but nice enough to impress the good lady with my gastronomic knowledge of places i've never been to - more bistro-chic than michelin stars.
We're going to the opera on Friday night (Erkel theater - the big one's closed for a refurb) and probably the old baths on Sunday but other than that we're easy - Terror Haza is on the list at some point
All suggestions welcome!
Cheers,
john

etc etc... We go there every year as we have family there but it's a really cool place, enjoy.
Did you try Fausto's? http://fausto.hu/en/home-english/ Â In the Jewish quarter.
If you're climbing Castle Hill on Saturday watch the sun go down from Gellert Hill before picking somewhere up there to eat.
Or, you could try Fishermans Bastion - It's been a while, but I remember there being something pretty good up that way.
Cheers all!
Will get the thinking cap on - plenty of reading there!

Visit the amazing Gelert hotel, built in 1901, and the baths behind. There's an indoor pool and various outdoor pools at different temperaures, the big outdoor pool has a wave machine. If you fancy it you can have a mud bath administered by a dour Hungarian lady in funny white boots with the heel and toes cut out and I daresay a wine enema and a happy ending if you ask.
I quite liked the KonyvBar restaurant when I was there a couple of years ago. They have a menu based on a famous book that changes every 5 weeks or so. A little pricey but nothing outrageous.
