Down in London on Saturday, got 2-3 hours either side of the afternoon show to kill, so looking for ideas for somewhere to keep me and MrsMC entertained.

Take a walk down through the City and along the South Bank.

Pop in Tate Modern if you're that way inclined.

It depends what you want to do really. Just mooch around or do something specific.

There's tons to keep you occupied.

I would get the train to picadilly circus, wander down to Trafalgar Square (could nip into the National Gallery), down Whitehall to see Big Ben. cross Westminster bridge, stroll along the river past the London Eye - plenty of lunch options here if you carry on past the London Eye, watch the skateboarders under the National Theatre, keep going to Millenium bridge, can either go into Tate Modern or cross bridge to see St Paul's. If you do that, then carry on a little bit further along the river & you are at the Monument - good views from up there and a steep spiral staircase to test the legs.

Stuff closer to the Globe theatre - The Golden Hinde boat, Borough Market, The Science Gallery, a drink at the top of the Shard

2-3 hours to kill in the  centre of the capital of the country, Tourist Central UK? No, nothing comes to mind.  🤣

I could easily fill that with a visit to the British Museum, or the Gibson Garage (or GuitarGuitar Camden), or just a stroll down the South Bank.

Have you looked at GoogleMaps (or your preferred mapping app) to see what is between those two places that catches your eye?

Yeah, really depends what you fancy doing and how much money you want to spend!

Could take the Thameslink from St Pancras down to Blackfriars and walk along to the Tate Modern which is in the right direction for the Globe (albeit I find myself increasingly more interested in the building than the art, shame you can't get to the 10th floor of the extension any more).

As mentioned, Southbank in either direction from Blackfriars is nice if the weather is good, to kill a few hours you might need a pub stop though!

Depending on time and budget a good lunch at Brigadiers near Mansion House would be my vote!

Sky Garden (albeit you need tickets, not sure if available at short notice)

I used to regularly work in London attending meetings, events etc - I almost never used the Tube as once you’ve got an understanding of the geography, it was pretty easy to walk. Might be worth getting a tube for a few stops to St Paul’s and then walking from there. There’s quite a lot to see/do around the Globe including Tate Modern, Gabriel’s Wharf and Borough Market.%f

Some nice ideas thanks. My first choice was the British Museum but MrsMC went not that long ago. So despite it being my day to choose, my first choice was incorrect.

Stumpy01 route has a lot going for it but I would amend skipping the to westminster bridge bit and catch the tube there instead.

Whilst the first bit is normally great the problem with Saturdays is you get the various marches. Looking at this weekend looks like  a Gaza march starts next to the BM and head towards whitehall and also Palestine Action supporters are planning to hold a protest, I think, at Westminster so probably worth avoiding.

If you fancy a few post show beers then the start of the bermondsey beer mile is just past tower bridge.

Funnily enough I nearly suggested that... I work near the Southbank and regularly have meetings in Farringdon so know the surrounding areas quite well

Walk down from St Pancras via Grays End Road. You’ll find nice coffee and the the best bike shop in London. Then after losing an hour and significant money, carry on down via the legal courts to Somerset house and the south bank. Or head east and cross at St Paul’s on the famous wobbly bridge and go to Tate Modern. London has excellent walking.

Condor Cycles is always worth a visit. It’s my local bike shop from work

I’m a British museum member so can skip the queues. Said queues are huge i’d give it a miss of a weekend. I go there for lunch every month but it will be heaving. Good Japanese exhibition at the moment.

No. I only go during lunch breaks as it’s 5 min from the office. The members’ room Benugos is a nice place for lunch after the crush. And yes Hiroshige was vey good.

Yeah, get your placards ready. That'll fill the time.

Eeurgh! Find somewhere else for your perverted fantasies! (Only jealous because I didn't get into the Hiroshige exhibition the other week. 😀  )
