Next week, wake at 6.30 when GF's alarm goes off, bed about 11.

About 12 and 6 most days. Apart from today when it was 12 and 3:45. It's already starting to hurt a bit. I have no idea how a friend of mine (registrar, training to be a nuro surgeon) is effective on 24 / 36 hr shifts and very little or unusual sleep patterns

Bed around 10:30/11 pm, wake up around 5:30 - 6

I've always been a morning person and would happily go to bed a bit earlier to get an extra hour's sleep.

Unfortunately HRH is a bit of a night-owl and would happily go to bed at midnight and sleep in until 8.

So, 10:30/11 as a compromise.

06.02 (when the alarm goes off - I hate round numbers).

🙂 .. alarm set to 05:53 for me 😕

I usually turn in around 11-ish +/- half an hour.

I get up usually around 30 minutes earlier than I want to, based on whatever time the kids start trying to make their own breakfasts. Easier to do without 30 mins sleep than spend the rest of the day clearing up.

Been on nights this weekend so bed at about 8am and up around 11-12 speaking of which time to get up.

They're the scheduled times, I'm usually up about 2:30, 3:00.

Hmmm I've been pretty reliable all my life actually.

Early to bed, early to rise makes a Man healthy (yes) wealthy (moderatly) and wise (Ok 2/3 ain't that bad)

So that's about 2200-0600 then.

Saw an article recently which said that throughout history - from Egyptians to Victorians - there's records of people having 2 sleeps per night, going to bed at dusk, waking for a few hours to read/study/do arty stuff/clean the house etc, then back to sleep until dawn.

Apparently this '8-hours sleep' thing is very modern and conflicts with our natural sleep patterns, causing tiredness and stress. Guess its driven by inventions like elctric lights etc so we can carry on later in the evening and effectively reduce 'night-time'.

ps used to work/ride until 1 or 2 am then get up at 5.30, now a more sensible 11 to 6.

Normally about 2-3am to sleep (sometimes 4 if I'm unable to sleep more than normal) and up at 9ish.

Some days I just don't bother going to bed as I'll end up more tired and unable to get up in time for work.

The only time I've ever stayed up all night was whilst working for a company that had to "get stuuf done by morning"
We worked right through, got stuff done then promptly pootled off to the pub. Most had two pints max and went home to bed.
Stimulating conversation it was IIRC.

Spring 0200hr - 1000hr
Summer 0300hr - 1100hr
Autumn 0100hr - 0900hr
Winter 1200hr - 0700hr (need hibernation)

I try to get 7 to 8 hour sleep as much as I can regardless of the day.

Typically 11:30 to midnight and up at 5-45am during the summer. It is hurting though and I feel I could do with an extra 60-90 mins a night.

I am quite surprised how early some folk or going to bed going on the above replies

Bed about midnight, up at 3.40am to check what that bell-end davidtaylforth has written.

Quick bout of self flagellation, hitting 'myself' repeatedly with a copy of MBR and screaming the name of my nearest Orange dealer.

Back to bed and rock myself to sleep 'till the alarm goes off at 6ish.

Usually about 6 hours a night - try to make up for it at the weekend.

Depends on what shift I'm on for that day. If its earlies then try to get to bed by 11 and up at half 4, if anything later (up at 6am or 9am) then I try to get to bed before 1.

it's never the same, it all depends what I'm doing with work. So long as I get 7-8 hours sleep each day it doesn't really matter too much when. Sometimes it's broken like last night, slept for a few hours then worked from 01:00-06:00, then slept a bit more 'till 10:30 this morning. I'm working again tonight so doing a similar thing again.

It is not fixed. But usually try to sleep before 12 in the night. I know early to bed and early to rise is good but my routine is like this so that i am not able to follow this.
