I've had a bit of an addiction for a few years now - it does me no good at all. However, the comforter thread earlier got me thinking that late evening slump on the sofa with ice cold Pepsi Max was probably my happy place!

The bastids seem to have changed the taste though! Anyone else noticed - talking last coupel of weeks rather than months / years! What have they done to it!!?

Can't say I have noticed a difference, but I mainly drink Cherry Pepsi Max when having a fizzy drink so maybe not a ideal comparison, still tastes better than Coca Cola either way.

You’ve developed a tolerance to it and need a bigger hit to notice any taste.

Tastes the same to me, and I drink gallons of the stuff.

Paging ChrisL to the thread though, he's the real subject matter expert

In our house it is referred to as "Pepsi crack" Can't say I've noticed a change in the taste but I'm not a connoisseur...

Still tastes the same to me too.

You've not picked up one of the weird flavours they're now doing by accident, have you?

I've done that before now and its a shock when you're not expecting it.

I've noticed that 'chalky aftertaste' in a few things, kind of like an askit powder.

But if it helps you to sleep better...

Still tastes terrible, just like all diet drinks.

Be careful with that stuff, i was addicted to it but developed such bad acid reflux that its painful to drink any fizzy drinks. Im going for a scan to find out what the problem is but i would place money on that drink as my diet was otherwise very good..

I take a can of it to work with me everyday and haven't noticed a difference. However, I do occasionally get a "bad" batch and it tastes a bit off.

Well I’ve recently cut down from litres a day to well, 1.5 litres a day. I’m doing a staged reduction as I’ve been warned that going cold turkey isn’t a good idea!

Anyway, cutting back has changed the taste slightly. Not for the better.

Its the bottled stuff that seems off to me - two different bottles so not a single off one. Cans seemed like normal.

Pinkster - no its the regular Max tho have done the Cherry spurt more than once - first taste of that stuff is a shocker!

I don’t like it out of the plastic bottle, same with coke etc.
It’s ice cold can for me.

They coat the inside of the cans with plastic now anyway.

If they've changed it, I might now be able to drink it. Previously it meant a guaranteed headache. I'm OK with other colas (full fat and diet)

That’s those lovely cancer giving artificial sweeteners

What happened to pepsi max was they made it.

From that day onward its been a shocker.

Which is pretty much all diet drinks does no one else just find them bitter?

Not just diet drinks for me. I can pick up on the smallest amount of aspartame or suchlike. It just makes whatever it's in completely unappealing. It seems only original Coke and a couple of tonic waters are unadulterated. Fortunately my daytime drink is tapwater but I'm sure the march to sugar free everything is relentless so it's going to be harder to find anything that doesn't taste awful.

+1.

It's seemingly in bloody everything these days.

As much as global mega corporations are to be despised, fair play to Coca-Cola for refusing to bow to  the pressure and keeping Full Fat Coke.

I'm happy to pay the premium to avoid aspartame.

I much prefer the taste of diet drinks to their sugary equivalents.

I've taken to drinking alcohol free beer instead. Much better 😛

I had wondered if they have changed the sweetener? Sitting here with a dry tongue, feels like I've drunk meths! I'm too tight to not finish the bottles that I have but this may have solved my addiction. This might push me back to Maynards Crack Gums...

Didn't know that...
Still tastes better out of the can though 🙂

I tasted meths once, as bad as sugar free is... Meths is worse.

No change as far as I can tell, and I probably drink an unhealthy amount of the stuff if some things are to be believed
