So due to a babybgoode induced hard drive failure on my laptop I am forced to use my mum's MacBook.
I know naff all about Macs to be honest (other than they infuriate me) and need to do a bit of html and css coding etc - what text editor (preferably free) do people recommend for OS X?
Also where to **** is the hash key on a MacBook Air keyboard?!
Thanks all
Alt and 3 for #
Text edit is supplied check the application folder.
TextMate. didn't know about textwrangler! (was BBEdit all the way for me).
TextMate is what's used by all my colleagues.
Thanks all
Any suggestions for an FTP client?
Textwrangler will directly access and edit/save etc. html on a server, so no need for an FTP for the HMTL.
OSx based FTP - FileZilla.
Thanks bokonon - I know and like FileZilla so that is good news...
Sublime .. is sublime
Not used it on a Mac, but Sublime Text is great on both Windows and Linux, and I have no reason to doubt it would also be great on a Mac.
vim and alt 3.
It is bonkers that you have to go out and find out where the hash key is on a mac. Those zany apple people.
Textwrangler for text and Cyberduck for FTP.
I'm using komodo edit and filezilla, but might take a look at a couple of others based on suggestions above 🙂

I guess that up until fairly recently the only people who used hash symbols were Americans as an alternative to No./Number.
Of course, now everyone uses hashtags all the time.
If you have a US keyboard, it's clearly shown:

On the UK keyboard, the hash is replaced with the £:
Not free - but I use Coda and Transmit from Panic for html/css and ftp.
