So due to a babybgoode induced hard drive failure on my laptop I am forced to use my mum's MacBook.

I know naff all about Macs to be honest (other than they infuriate me) and need to do a bit of html and css coding etc - what text editor (preferably free) do people recommend for OS X?

Also where to **** is the hash key on a MacBook Air keyboard?!

Thanks all

You might want to try Atom https://atom.io - it's free and rather good...

Any suggestions for an FTP client?

Textwrangler will directly access and edit/save etc. html on a server, so no need for an FTP for the HMTL.

OSx based FTP - FileZilla.

Not used it on a Mac, but Sublime Text is great on both Windows and Linux, and I have no reason to doubt it would also be great on a Mac.

I'm using komodo edit and filezilla, but might take a look at a couple of others based on suggestions above 🙂

I guess that up until fairly recently the only people who used hash symbols were Americans as an alternative to No./Number.
Of course, now everyone uses hashtags all the time.
If you have a US keyboard, it's clearly shown:

On the UK keyboard, the hash is replaced with the £:
