Thought I'd give Glucosamine Sulphate a go.
I take glucosamine sulphate daily. Not idea if it makes a difference or not!
Does it make you feel any better?
My knees pop/creak less when kneeling down or squatting, that's for sure. I do kneel a lot during the day whilst working, they still ache but not for as long.
I started taking cod liver oil at the same time, so can't say for certain the glucosamine that has been the benefit.

Not for my knees, but I've just ordered a 90 days supply of 14mg iron tablets and a some vitamin C tablets.
My usual multivitamin only comes with 5mg of iron and I only eat a bit of meat as my better half is vegan, making it extra faff to satisfy my carnivore requirements besides say some scrambled eggs at lunchtime.
My cartledge-less, arthritic knee was giving me loads of gip last winter, so I'm went to see a consultant about this time last year who told me it needed replacing. I've barely had a twinge from it since the consultation.
So, my advice is to scare the bastard into stop annoying you.
Only ibuprofen if I walk too much on it.
Not my knees, but spine missing half L1 and I've just 'done a right job' on my left hand side of my pelvis (extensive fracturs). Knees are great though !
I take Glucosamine for my hands, might be a placebo but I did notice worsening pain when I stopped taking them for a bit.
I used it c20 years ago when I was getting knee pain on one knee. Dr had said the pain was likely old age/ wear & tear- I was in my early 30s!
After a few years I saw a consultant who diagnosed torn cartilage so the glucosamine had no benefit.

None. I find that the only time that my knees hurt is when I stop exercising. (Previously damaged cartilage from a bad challenge at football)

Same, had a massive crash in my late teens and mangled my kneecap, and the upper surface of my tibia where it forms part of the knee. Loads of painkillers and anti inflammatory drugs for a few months followed by following the physios recommendations for exercise. Have gone from "you'll probably need your knee resurfacing in your 30's" to no issues at all until my 50s, then it's just a little pain, fixed by some minor tweaks to pedaling/cranks and shoe support.
Hopefully should get another 10 years.
+1 for Glucosamine, I find it helps sore and clicky knees and ankles. Easy to think it doesn't do much but I do notice the difference a week or 2 after I stop taking it.
Interesting. My knees were bad after skiing for 3 straight weeks in January (struggled walking up and down the stairs on my return home). Coming back from 2 weeks skiing at the weekend and the knees are in a much better shape, but still not how they were before January. I'll try Glucosamine to see if it makes any difference. Getting old sucks.
Doing what my physio recommended regularly to support the knee as much as possible
Leg, hip and glute strength training both heavy/low/slow and with resistance bands types
After seeing a physio about mine, the resistance band exercises he gave me worked wonders. He said many knee problems were due to lack of muscle surrounding them.
As soon as I feel it start twinging now I'm back on the exercises.

Which is especially valid for cyclists and runners. Lots of development of certain muscles and atrophy of others. Which can in some cases make the knee less stable, rather than just weaker than it needs to be.
Diet (reduce fat/weight) and exercise (increase strength and joint stability, and maintain mobility), like everyone is saying and drugs when sometimes needed to reduce inflammation and manage pain. Glucosamine and chondroitin (crushed up shrimp shells etc) won't hurt you unless you eat a sackful I guess, but there's no quality evidence they do any good at all, which is why they're not prescribed ( https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng226/chapter/Recommendations - links to evidence reviews in the annexes), anecdotes notwithstanding...
it's taken me a year and a half of backwards and forwards to various medical appointments and 2 MRIs for a diagnosis of my (back of) knee issues, apparently it's a gastrocnemius semimembranosus cyst, but the treatment (and cure) is still being investigated.
I've also been given a course of amitriptyline to see if that makes any difference to the leg pain I get, which may be a trapped nerve.
the supplements my physio had suggested (Magnesium and Fish Oil) made no difference, but then in the end it seems like the issue in my case is not the actual knee joint or lower leg muscles, which it appeared to be in the early stages.
I'm 57 and probably over did things on the bike a couple of years ago, so lesson learned, build up muscle strength slowly...
I recently worked for a supplement company. I have a completely knackered shoulder thanks to a crash that gave me pretty chronic pain. Started taking Type 2 Collagen and the amount of pain has reduced noticeably
I keep hearing and reading about Turmeric as a good supplement to take for a variety of different issues, so I’ve just ordered a couple of packets of 180 tablets for £12, which isn’t bad for a years supply, so it’ll be interesting to see if it brings any benefits - not costing an arm and a leg, which is good as it’s my hands and knees causing me pain.

I find one of these quite miraculous - how it helps me run and referee rugby without pain. Always forget to wear it dog walking/playing (I kick a ball for one of them) and it gets quite sore without.

Not for my knees but just about every other joint... I've tried tumeric capsules can't say I noticed a difference, same for chondroitin and glucosamine. Now trying type 2 collagen and doc has put me on ertoricoxib and that seems to be helping.
2 weeks in and the knee pain has gone.
Whether it is the Glucosamine Sulphate, the placebo effect or if it just got better… I don’t know!
Whatever, I’ll keep taking them
Mrs Ready bought me some Extra Strength CBD Gummies from the Ideal Home Exhibition. For the 2 weeks I was taking them I noticed considerably less pain. I've run out of them now, and the pain has returned. Could be placebo/coincidental? She got them at a reduced price but I'm not sure I would want to continue paying silly money for them. Paracetemol & Ibuprofen don't touch it.
I had 2 medial meniscus operations over 12years ago, and what I should really do is go and have the knee looked by a specialist but I want to keep riding and don't want to lose the fitness I currently have!
Found out I'm very deficient in Vitamin D (paid for a NHS blood test) so I've ordered some on line as well as stocking up on Magnesium and Turmeric tablets.
Since this thread popped up, I've had some knee pain. Not saying I'm blaming you, Harry, but....
