I'm thinking of getting a small van to replace my Astra cos it will be good for putting bikes in.
I want an economical diesel, that doesn't cost much to tax or insure, possibly even something like the Peugeot Partner as it has seats in the back like a car set up.
Cheers.
Got a new shape berlingo (same as the current partner, I've the car/mpv variant). Nothing bad to say about it, bikes fit in the back longways, so leaving 1 seat in the back you can get 3 folk and 3 bikes just wheeled in.
Got the middle (90bhp) diesel engine, I test drove the basic 75bhp petrol, and it was ok with a couple folk in, but a bit crap laden. Mine's fine, pulls good regardless of load and seems decently economical.
Insurance is cheaper than my old mk2 mondeo was, servicing has been reasonable thus far. Not needed much done mind (just the basic stuff).
I was driving one of the Peugeot Partners today at work and it was really nice to drive. I think it was the 1.9 tdi though which might not be very economical.
I have a partner van for sale!
If you are used to an Astra your legs might feel quite cramped in a new berlingo. I find the peddle positions pretty uncomfortable in the new shape ones, the old shape was much more comfy.
Weve just taken delivery of 4 new citroen berlingos
Looks like there going to do 700miles on a tank of juice there only 75bhp but if your paying your fuel its a no brainer
Ah i just done exaclty the same as the focus wasnt big enough for the expanding family and bike duties, so bought a 03 plate Peugoet Partner escapde for £2.8k. Its and excellent vehilce what with the twin sliding rear doors and fits my bike in with both wheels in no problems. I got the 2.0 hdi and do 65miles each day to work in it and its cheaper to run that the focus. Would recommend!
