I'm finally getting around to fixing my garden fence which blew down earlier this year. I'm not very DIY wise so am after some advice. I currently have a 3 ft. breeze block wall which I am planning on screwing post to and then using 6 x 1 rough sawn boards as the cross slats.
two questions really -
What size posts should I use? 3x3 or 4x4
What's the best fixing to use to attach posts to the wall? Been looking at concrete screws
im in a similar position to you, 3ft high fence to build altho im going 4X1 slats. im using 4X4 fence posts. bought them in 10ft lengths and sawn in half, so 2 ft into concrete, 3 ft above ground.
interested in answers to this fixing question as i havent yet decided how ill fix the end post to the brick wall im coming off.
Did this last year. Is the wall properly solid? I didn't trust mine so belt and braces I put the 75mm post into the ground with a metpost, then used 2 lightning bolts to screw it into the wall. 6ft fence has survived gales.

As per the comment above, you are adding a big sail to the wall so make sure it is built well and will not get damaged in the wind.
I have put lots of fences up and would use 'post wall brackets' and shim them to make sure they are light to the wall with no wobble. Depending on the foundations of the wall will determine how far you can dig down to create a footing for postcrete.
if that wall is single skin it might just get ripped down by the force of the fence.
for cross slats I'd just use shiplap like a normal fence, should be much cheaper than 4x1s and the posts seem to go before the slats, but why not just use a pre-made short panel?
