Having a little day out with a friend today in Brum.
I have precious little money though.
We want art and culture, vegetarian food, architecture, funky bars/cafes, bargain shopping...
Any ideas folks?
visit http://www.bicicielo.com/ and drool over stuff you'll probably never be able to afford
eat at Yorks Bakery cafe http://yorksbakerycafe.co.uk/ on Newhall st
or the museum and art gallery, free entry and a nice cafe

architecture, funky bars/cafes
You do realise you in Birmingham don't you?
Most of the architecture got replaced with concrete.
Lots of good veg-based food in the Balti Triangle, plus a veg-only good curry house Jyoti which is a bit farther out.
If you fancy going to the cinema, the Electric is by New St Station - oldest (and best) cinema in UK. It has leather sofas and everything. Also has a cheap parking deal with nearby NCP. Also top pub The Victoria just round the corner.
Pop in to say hello to ST who is chief designer/architect/project manager at the New St Station extension.
Sadly the Birminghamitsnotshit website has gone, but the archives are still there.

Ha! I was waiting for that... 🙂
Thanks everyone. Some good suggestions there. I reckon I'll defo hit up the Museum..free is good..
Electric cinema is awesome, been before but I don't think they have owt on in the day today.
Have they still got this in the Science Museum ?
Is the science museum Thinktank now? I've been to Thinktank and remember some pretty huge stuff like that..
Ooh someone mentioned Jyoti to me... My friend doesn't eat coriander which kind of rules out virtually a whole nations food sadly... 🙂
My friend doesn't eat coriander
Get new friend.
Jyoti is pretty decent, http://www.thewarehousecafe.com/ does good veggie.
Would 2nd BMAG, maybe the back to backs if you fancy a bit of history?
Is the Greenpeace Cafe still in Digbeth? Great all veggie menu and not far from the Custard Factory. If you fancy a drink later on then head to the Sunflower Lounge just round the corner from New St Station. I miss my home town.
maybe the back to backs
Tours fully booked sadly..
Bit of a curve ball...

Not sure you can get a tour of it in the week (& get them to play it), but it's worth an ask. Free, odd and all round great 🙂
Bournville is a nice area to be in as well with a bit of heritage.
That's it. The Warehouse Cafe. Looks like it's closed at the moment though. Ikon Gallery at Brindley Place and the Museum & Art Gallery is fantastic and you have the Victorian tea rooms there as recomended above. Swordfish record shop if you fancy browsing for some cool tunes. Jyoti...Mmmmmmm.....
Oh yeah! Swordfish.. They've just moved apparently so I'll have to go check them out.
Thanks all, some great tips.
Get down to custard factory. Loads of cool stuff to do down Digbeth.
