Just finished watching The Killing (danish version), and have already watched The Bridge.

I really enjoyed both of them - any suggestions for another series to watch?

6 Feet Under and the Wire stand out for me also Bodies.

Tried BSG and Dexter, not for me.

Misfits. Luther. or oldskool Twin Peaks

If you are liking The Killing and other scandinavian TV check out some of their cinema too. I did a bit of work on Max Manus

some of the same people were involved in Headhunters

I tried Boardwalk Empire - while it was amazingly shot, only managed a few episodes, but didn't grab me.

Is 6 Feet Under quite old? I can remember watching the first few series of that a good few years back - the early ones were ok, but then it tailed off

thanks folks - lots to look into.

Depends what kind of thing you're after. Breaking Bad is easy to watch. A mate has lent me the whole series of The Wire but I haven't got past the first series...It seems dated to me.
Movie2k has got just about any series you could want.

6FU is 00-05 or so I think. Not everyone's cup of tea.

Wire...dated?

Breaking Bad. It's better than The Wire imo.

I love breaking bad, but no way is it better than the Wire IMO.

For me it goes:

The Wire
Sopranos
Game of Thrones/Breaking Bad (can't decide which is best)
Battlestar Galactica

Tried to get into Mad Men and watched a couple of series but I'm just not that grabbed by it. It's beautifully designed and shot etc but I find the plotting/pacing bitty and inconsistent.

I prefer Game of Thrones to The Wire, but the Sopranos still takes it in terms of epicness. Game of Thrones might eventually overtake though.

I second Justified. Redneckalicious; proper dark characters, I love it when the leads are a bit dirty...

Spiral is a good French crime series and I don't think anyone has mentioned The great Romanzo Criminale. Braquo was great too as others have said.

I've just watched Prisoners of War, the Israeli series on which Homeland was based. It was brilliant. You can get it on LoveFilm.

MUCH better than Homeland IMO. More realistic, better acted, lot less Flag Wavy. A bit too realistic at times with the torture stuff. Although a couple of plot twists were ruined by having seen Homeland.

Download "Rubicon", from US cable network AMC. Nice bit of Yank drama.

I like Wallander too - prefer the original ones to the UK remake.

Anybody mentioned Wallander yet - the original Swedish one, not the British one.

From about 2005/6?

Fantastic series 🙂

1: Breaking Bad - up until the wheelchair bomb.

Dude! Should have put up a Spoiler alert

Deadwood is another great suggestion, but be warned that due to the usual habit of commissioning Networks cancelling shows, there's no satisfying resolution to story arcs at the end of season 3. Great acting, but dialogue not for the sensitive ear.

+1 for Breaking Bad, role on 2013 fair WW, and Homeland, not long for Series 2...+C4 have actually secured it just days after the US release bless em.

Underbelly Series 1-5 is worth a look, Australian, but don't let that hold you back.

Life - A lesser known gem that again got canned after 2 seasons...even with its zen.

Person of Interest? It's not up there with the big hitters, christ its on C5, but gets better through the season.

Breaking bad is probably the best I've seen so far. I've watched a couple of episodes of the sopranos and loved it, so thats next on my list. Also really like Supernatural. On season 3 of that and it's good.

Bit of an obscure one, City of Men, if anyone saw the film City of God, it is a mini series taking each of the characters in turn and giving you more of their back story.

If you liked The Wire, then look out for The Corner, which was an earlier series by same writers based in same place and many of the same characters.

+ 1 for Braquo (best thing on TV this year)

Managed to get hold of all three series of Tour of Duty as well if anyone remembers that (gave me a lifelong love of Paint it Black by Rolling Stones).

If you like military drama, then Band of Brothers/ The Pacific and Generation Kill.

I loved Braquo, watched an early episode from part way through while channel hopping after another programme ended and was hooked. Very gritty.

Person of Interest? It's not up there with the big hitters, christ its on C5, but gets better through the season

Saw the trailers and thought it looked interesting, really enjoying it so far. The first thing I thought of was Trapwire, the panopticon surveillance system that is being talked about; http://www.privacysos.org/node/785

Alcatraz was good but they cancelled it.
American Horror Story was brilliant and season 2 to start soon.
A Gifted man is good too.

Or there's the classics
A-team
Knight Rider
Dukes of Hazzard
Baywatch
Fawlty Towers
Thunder in Paradise.

I am going to start off going old school

Due South
Northern Exposure

Slightly more up to date

West wing
Sopranos
Life
weeds

Didn't like the wire or breaking bad or homeland, all trying too hard to be something special and just didn't grip me.

And how about for a bit of more light hearted entertainment

Psych
Town called Eureka
Monk

The Wire without a doubt. Can't believe I haven't watched it sooner. I have just finished season 3.

Make sure you start from season 1, well worth it.

Controversial one, Lost. I actually really enjoyed the last 3 series.
