Lookin at changing ours as they are 240v halogen, 2 with blown bulbs so might a well go LED. Looking to illuminate a large garden and drive when any thieving bastard is around!
We have one of these

Works well and so far appears waterproof. (9 months old)
Watching this, I need something that will survive the hosing the weather gives things here
I recommend that whatever you get, point it downwards. Unlike the **** across the back from me whose security light points into my bedroom window and flashes on and off all bloody night every time the PIR detects a spec of dust.
I looking for a new one, I'm looking for a security light with integrated CCTV that I can connect via Wifi to some kind of cloud service, ideally with an App that's a one-off purchase and not a subscription.
I've had those for a year or more now the light is not super bright halagen you may be used too but it's good enough. Although the light pattern is fine it can shadow so maybe cost in an extra one. don't look into them or all you will see is a tiny pink/white square for a good few minutes.
Bloody ugly things but work well
I've got 4 of these, 22w version with PIR -

And I quite like them:
- Seem well made.
- Good seals and long cable tails mean you dont have to open them up.
- All wired on a ring off a switch in the kitchen means a quick off-on-off-on makes them all come on indefinitely which is useful on summer evenings and for wheelie bin runs
- Good light cutoff means I have them mounted high up on the wall, but tipped down so they illuminate my garden brightly without shining through my neighbours windows.
I've got these dotted about the place, they great and still working after the recent rain! I've even got one in the potting shed which is positioned to take on enough light to keep it charged.
We have a solar powered led security light from Costco.
Had it 3 years now with no problems. It’s really bright, doesn’t need wiring in and just works. The brand is called sunforce. It’s out of stock on amazon (link below) but I think there is a newer version.

I've got some of these and they are great.
Our sparky installed some fancy remote controlled microwave sensor type ones but they were terrible - a nats fart would have them turn on. They ended up being on most of the time because of this. I replaced them with the MEIKEE ones above - they come on for people and animals and not things blowing round. Very responsive too, easy to install and seem decent quality. Been going over a year now with no issues.
they come on for people and animals
Isn't that a bad thing?
We've changed two of the halogen lights to equivalent LED 'bulbs' - just make sure they will fit as they are quite chunky. The two higher up mounted lamps have been changed to LED. Wouldn't mind some low profile LED solar path lights as I'm working in the shed and it's dark when I come out.
From a light pollution perspective...
Colour temperature 3000K or less (allows you to see into the unlit areas as less shadow contrast)
Well shielded and downward pointing. Only lighting inside your property boundary.
PIR direction separately adjustable to light direction.
These recommended by @snotrag seem okay.

and instead of a PIR sensor (which always seem to fail), I connected them to a wifi/RF light switch which operates via wifi OR a seperate stick on RF light switch.

Handy because they are wired up from the garage, with the RF switch near the back door in the house.

I replaced two aging halogens with two of these from Screwfix. One 50W the other 30W. Easy to install & seem to work as described. PIR's seem sensitive enough and all the settings are adjustable. Definitely built down to a price & there are better available that are sealed to a higher standard. For what I wanted them for they're a good compromise between quality and price.
