I've run out of odds and ends, last used an old static climbing rope for a swing over the river.
What top swing tips have you got?
Tyre or plank?
I happened across a rope swing over an old quarry once made out of some sort of industrial rubber hose. Had a sort of slow stretchy bungee-like quality to it - lazily bouncing you up and down as it swung.
really hard to keep your grip when you’re laughing so much 🙂
Not winning on the up-cycling front or coolness but I've used a length of this before: Amazon Link and it worked a treat.
Broad enough to hold on to, strong enough etc..
https://www.cheaprope.co.uk/ has lots of variety of stock including various nice thick, soft knot-able rope. Their cotton rope would work well. They often have deals on offcuts
In anticipation of the easing of lockdown you can stock up of velvet rope for you customers to queue behind while they wait for entry into your bondage club too
Not the type they used in Bridge to terabithia that's for sure....
Just watched with my 8 year old, he was extremely upset!
Some what off topic I'm sorry!
If it is going to be up 24/365 in sun, rain and extreme changes of temperature, wouldnt something considerably thicker not be a better choice.
Swings in the old days were on hemp ropes that looked like they could hold a battleship.
Outdoor life in use of a hemp rope is stated at 8 years. Not sure those modern brightly coloured versions offer the same strength for the same amount of time in all weathers.
Just a consideration 🙂
Cheap blue polyester rope would be more weather resistant than hemp
At least hemps biodegradable!
Not another Cummings thread then?
