Not necessarily right now, but what do you use for audio wallpaper?

I'm a five live "listener" during daylight hours (England test matches excepted)and the absolute 80's of an evening.

Don't feel the new to justify it our choice of listening - just let it out, you know you'll feel better.

.
In a belated attempt to justify it, A80's just segwayed(sp. no replacements found) from bananananannanarama to the Thompson twins! Quality.

Real Radio XS. Manchester based rock station. I love the music choice, it's well within my preference (60's-70's rock), stones, jimmi, Led Zep ACDC, The floyd. I don't really care about the presenters, it's all about the music.

6music, all the time. Til the wife comes in, then it's a battle to avoid her turning radio 2 on.

Never tried r6moosax, thought I was too old. Inspired to try it on Monday while all my engerland colleagues take the day off to sit in traffic.

Any more?

It moves generally between Radio Paradise or Soma Mission Control (ambient sweetness overlaid with the recordings of NASA's 1960s and 70s space missions!).

At the moment it's Mission Control.

Generally Radio6.

Though had daytime Radio1 on in the car recently for the kids and found, for the first time in about 30+ years, that I could not only stand it, but quite enjoyed it. Quite disturbing.

Radio 5 while driving in the UK, occasionally R1.
Now I'm in Oz Triple J and whatever abc station gets the TMS feed

edit: typing this out i realised i have a quite a routine.

Assuming i have nothing to interrupt it, i'd listen to stuff all day:

Radio 4 when i wake up and check news/email on laptop
Radio 1 once i'm up (sooner if a politician is the 8.10 interview)
Then itunes or soundcloud in the morning.
Radio 4 for World at One
Afternoon - TMS at the moment. Never Richard Bacon, who is sounding more like Alan Partridge everyday
A bit of PM at 5
Then maybe a podcast while cooking dinner.
Evening is either 5live for sport or radio 1 or itunes/Soundcloud

Nearly always Radio 4. It's dull as dishwater much of the time, but every so often they'll have something really fascinating, usually about 5 past 9 when I'm supposed to be in work...

I think the main reason I listen to it is because I simply can't stand listening to the same pop music, over, and over, and over...

Radio 2 is probably my most hated at the moment.

Radio 1 is sometimes actually OK, in that they do occasionally play interesting stuff you've never heard before, but perhaps that's a sign of my age!!

When I worked in a job where we had the Radio on all day, I wanted to murder people. The repetition isn't something I tolerate well.

Week days. 6 if that ****er keavney is away at breakfast.
At the shop radio 2 til they start arguing at lunch time.
Then The Arrow til they play poodle rock when we switch to Smooth 70s.
At 2 its back to Radio 2 until home time when its 6 again.
If I'm at home its 6 all day.

5 live sports extra for the cricket, else Metal Express Radio (internet stream). Not that impressed with the rock/metal dab stations available.

Radio 3,4 and 5
Probably split fairly evenly between them but always Radio 4 for Today and PM, rarely during day or after 7 pm.
5 if football or cricket
3 for music unless its opera/jazz /shit

If I'm near a DAB then TeamRock, sometimes Absolute Classic Rock. At work with a typical work radio its Absolute, as thats the best it'll pick up. Unfortunately while work let us on the net, we can't get radio streams 🙁

6 Music for, erm, music.....although I reckon it's time Keaveny was shown the door.
5 Live for news/sport - not so keen on the "debate" shows like Victoria Derbyshire (shudders).

5live despite not being into footie or cricket, and I dont listen to the rabid rant phone-ins early morning or late evening. Got sick of the limited playlists and repetition on music radio and haven't tuned a radio to a music station in about 10 years. Other half listens to R.1 so I am occasionally subjected to it and this

Radio 1 is sometimes actually OK, in that they do occasionally play interesting stuff you've never heard before,

is spoiled by this

The repetition isn't something I tolerate well.

So any new/interesting stuff is flogged to death. I was too old for R.1 when I was within their demographic, theres no hope for me now Im over 40...

Evenings a mix between 6 Music and some Jazz internet station.

Radio 4 now and most of the day. 6 music once Kerese(s?) is on at 10am. Radio 2 sometimes, folk music and country programmes. Yse I know I'm a sad old git but the older I get the more I love this type of music. Oh a bit of radio 3 is cool on long journey.

Radio 4 - particularly when on the road. Nothing like R4 burbling away in the background to get you to your destination.

Rarely listen to the radio at home.

In work atm and ditched the old wireless with little or no choice and got a DAB a few months back. R6 is generally on but Katie Pukrik(sp?) is on now and is starting to annoy me by pretending she likes hiphop.

Radio 4 at breakfast, and PM if I'm in the car home (not often)

Radio 3 mostly during the day.

6 music Saturday afternoon / evening (Peterson and Charles)

Radio 3 or 4 on an evening if there's something I like or am interested in.

Cooking music (except Saturday afternoon): Flicking between 6music, Kerrang, planet rock, absolute 90s etc trying to find something a bit more kicking but not stale (usually futile).

Radio 4 mostly.

Radio 3 when R4 gets too tiresome or depressing.

Very occasionally Heart FM when I turn on the radio in the car and my wife has been driving. Usually for about as long as it takes to safely return to Radio 4.

Yes I can see why your wife would listen to Heart as "no one plays a larger variety of music"
And I concede they aren't lying as only yesterday they played Crass ,NWA and Mariah Carey back to back.

I always used to be tuned in to www.nsbradio to stay in touch with the type of modern music that doesn't get any airtime on mainstream stations..
very good generally

I have three DAB radios, my alarm radio/dock, my little one at work, and my car unit, and all of them have one station programmed in; 6 Music. If I'm not that interested in a particular programme, then the iPod goes on. Simple.

Never tried r6moosax, thought I was too old. Inspired to try it on Monday while all my engerland colleagues take the day off to sit in traffic.

Too old? Cerys plays stuff from around 1920 onwards, all the others stuff from pretty much every decade, current stuff can be everything from dance, folk, Indy, electro, rock...
I've just had a look at my Shazam list for the last week or so:
Charlotte Church
Angèle David-Guillou
Julia Holter
Mazzy Star
Doom & Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood
Frank Turner
The Dead Weather
The Comsat Angels
Tom Lehrer
The Hics
David Bowie
Robert Wyatt
Bernard Bess Orchestra
Alec K. Red Fearn & The Eyesores
Filthy Boy
Kim Deal
Waxahatchee
Fred Neil
SIA
Mama Cass
Tom Waits
Lemon Jelly
Karen O & The Kids
DJ Shadow
A good enough variety, I think. 😀
