Hey peeps,

Need to create some brochures for work to be displayed on our iPads.
The main source of content will be either jpegs or word docs (or all jpegs if I save as in word)

What's a simple and straight forward programme to use?
Doesn't need to be fancy as will be all quite simplistic stuff

Word?
(You can do anything in Word and brochures will be a breeze.)

Check to see if your version of Word is able to save directly as a pdf file? mine is 2010 and its under 'save as' function.

Yeah Word does have a save as PDF option. If it doesn't just Google "Word PDF extension" and download the tool. Then you will be able to save as PDF.

This. And if you can't directly save as a PDF, Google for CutePDF - it installs as a printer driver, so you just select print, choose the PDF printer, then choose where to save the PDF when prompted.

are you PC or Mac based? IF you're Mac then you cant go wrong with Pages, latest version is excellent. I'm a graphics professional and use the full CS suite from Adobe, yet I still use Pages if I'm knocking up a letter to a client or a price list etc.

Windows based so no pages as well

I use open office. Free and easy, lots of support out there, too, but if you are already using word then just a PDF maker to it as above.
