Hi, I know nothing about technology, so feel free to talk simply. I use Strava on rides but even with data switched off I’m down to 50% battery, if I actually need to use my phone I’m down to 15 - 35% on 4 - 5 hour rides. Is there a small power bank that I can put in a pocket and use for emergencies? If we do return to some degree of normality, offers of work come through via email so it would be good to be able to keep an eye out for dates while I’m out and about. Ta
You could have Apple replace the battery:
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/iphone/repair/service/battery-power
Or an external power bank:
https://www.anker.com/products/taxons/107/Portable%20Chargers
I think you can get some that piggy back the phone too.
For info, the battery cases you might have seen on Amazon are utter ****
Mine stopped charging for an old SE less than a week
You could replace the battery, but they’re pretty feeble even when new. It’s annoying as (water resistance aside) the phone does everything I want it to.
Use the settings to check the battery max capacity and if its low get somoene to replace it if not apple themselves (out of warranty pay elsewhere) and get decent life out of it again?
Yeah there are loads of USB power banks out there. Choose one for suit your size/capacity/price needs.
You could take a look at something like this:

This seems like a bit of a bargain to me, but there are plenty of other models - I believe that Halfords do one that is well thought of by STW regulars.
My maximum battery capacity is 86% of what it was when new. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. I like my phone, I don’t tend to upgrade (I ride a Surly 1x1). I’m looking for a power bank small enough to fit in my pocket but with enough whatever to let me actually use the phone when I’m out...
The original battery was about 1600 mAh when new so any powerbank that gives you that or more will give as much battery as you need to get through the day, especially given you've already got some charge in the phone to start with
You need a pack with a normal USB outlet rather than the newfangled USB-C if you want to use your existing leads
Get something from Anker. They make good stuff.
Something like this

will charge your iPhone more than twice over, and it's reasonably compact.
This will see you right....

For £8 its a bargain. I have one, and an SE. I get two full SE charges out of it, with a bit of juice left over. Weighs close to sod all.
86% is not bad. Not worth paying for a whole new battery at that level.
Out if interest what OS version is it running. If its been updated to 14 there has been some serious battery drain issues. Not just the usual drain during the 1st week or so of an update, but a longer term high drain. There is a fix I think, but not sure what it is as have not update yet myself.
I'd just get the battery bank and be done with it.
Damn - that energizer on is cheap! Fancied getting one of those for myself, but checked the website & none available for delivery & none available in any of the local stores.... :o/

I use one of these. It makes the phone bulky but gives it epic battery life.
I've had anker ones historically, currently have an energiser one.
I'd go with anker given the option..
Anker
Thanks guys. I went with UrbanHiker’s suggestion. I collect it tomorrow....
It works a treat. I plug it in when I’m eating cake on my cafe stop. 5 mins, 20% increase, just enough and light and small to boot....
